Back-to-school conversations don’t have to be all about grades, behavior, and doing your best.

Some of the most important things we can give kids as they head into a new school year are realistic expectations about what learning and growing actually look like.

There will be mistakes. Hard assignments. Friendship changes. Awkward moments. Days they feel confident and days they don’t.

Our job isn’t to convince them that every day will be great. It’s to help them understand that they can handle the days that aren’t.

When kids know that struggle is expected, not evidence that something is wrong, they’re much more willing to keep trying, ask for help, and take healthy risks.

Save this one for the first few weeks of school. 💙

🍎The ✨ countdown ✨ for back-to-school has officially begun!

At Rara’s Cozy Corner, we’re soaking up these last little moments of summer while getting excited for a brand new school year. ❤️

Over the next few weeks we’ll be:
📚 Refreshing our books and learning spaces
🎨 Planning fun fall crafts and activities
👨🏽‍🎓 Discussing important roles we play; us as students, caregivers and our teachers
💛 Talking about kindness, friendships, and new adventures

SO

What does your family do to get ready for back-to-school?

Are you counting down the days… or wishing summer would slow down just a little longer? 😊

Share your favorite back-to-school ritual in the comments! I’d love to hear what makes this season special for your family. ❤️

Why independent play is important.

Independent play may sometimes seem like the care provider is “ignoring” your child when in reality it:
- helps boost mental health
- produces seratonin, makes children happy & decreases depression.
- promotes mental health by allowing them to problem solve and make their own decisions
- encourages decision making skills
- fosters imaginative play
- lack of internal locus control, the sense that they CAN solve their own problems

independent play is also referred to as solitary play. this is the stage before parallel play, where children are entertaining themselves in the company of other children. this helps encourage:
- communication
- friendship
- strengthen fine motor skills
