Labor Day weekend is made for slowing down and spending a little more time with the people you enjoy. Thoughtful backyard and tree lighting keeps the gathering going after sunset and turns your outdoor space into the place everyone wants to stay.

September takes a serious bite out of our daylight. Across Wisconsin and Northern Illinois, we can lose roughly 80–90 minutes of daylight over the course of the month, which means your home, walkways, trees, and outdoor spaces will be spending a lot more time in the dark.

The question is: when the sun goes down earlier, does your property still feel welcoming, safe, and beautiful?

Good outdoor lighting doesn’t just help you see where you’re going. It keeps your home looking its best and lets you enjoy the property you invested in long after sunset.

Is your home ready for the longer nights ahead?

This week, the crew focused on something customers may never see—but it makes a huge difference in the quality and longevity of an outdoor lighting system: proper wire runs.

A few things we covered:

• Leave enough extra wire and slack for adjustments and 90° turns
• Run additional wire when appropriate so future additions are easier
• Think carefully about placement so wires stay protected from gardening, digging, and landscaping
• Keep runs close to structures and away from areas likely to be disturbed
• Pay attention to wattage and how much load is being placed on each line

Great outdoor lighting isn’t just about how it looks when the sun goes down. It’s about doing the work correctly underneath the surface.

That’s why our team trains every week.

“Do you guys actually have experience with lighting?”

Yeah… you could say that.

Apparently the LightQuest crew has been lighting properties since the beginning of time.

All jokes aside, experience matters. Great outdoor lighting is more than installing fixtures. It’s knowing how to create depth, highlight architecture, improve safety, guide movement, and make a property feel completely different after dark.

If your home disappears when the sun goes down, we can fix that.

Every year, we see the same holiday lighting problems show up again and again:

1. Waiting too long to schedule
By the time most people start thinking about holiday lights, the best install windows are already filling up.

2. Using the wrong setup
Too many DIY setups rely on extension cords, overloaded outlets, or systems that were never meant to handle a clean, reliable holiday display.

3. Focusing only on “more lights”
More lights does not always mean a better look. The best holiday lighting is clean, intentional, and designed to complement the home—not overpower it.

A great holiday display should look festive, polished, and easy to enjoy all season long.

Your backyard shouldn’t stop being part of your home the moment the sun goes down. Thoughtful outdoor lighting brings the patio, pathways, landscaping, and gathering spaces back to life so the whole property feels warm, inviting, and usable at night.

Helping homeowners enjoy their outdoor spaces long after sunset.

Want Christmas lights you can enjoy year-round without constantly worrying about GFCI outlets tripping when the weather turns?

For this home, we installed 12-volt Christmas lights and connected them directly to the landscape lighting transformer—so they come on automatically every night with the rest of the outdoor lighting.

Clean. Convenient. Built to work with the property instead of fighting the weather.

DID YOU KNOW?
A professionally lit holiday display doesn’t necessarily use as much electricity as you think.

Modern LED holiday lighting can create a much bigger, cleaner display while using significantly less energy than old-school incandescent Christmas lights.

More glow doesn’t have to mean more power.

A beautiful home shouldn’t disappear when the sun goes down.

Professional landscape lighting is about more than brightness. It’s about creating depth, highlighting the architecture, bringing trees and landscaping to life, and making the entire property feel intentional after dark.

Every fixture. Every angle. Every beam of light. Designed with purpose.

See your home in a whole new light with LightQuest Outdoor Illumination.
