The covered parking at 102 W. Schreiner St. in Kerrville was built specifically to protect Starkey Pest Control company vehicles and equipment.

During last night’s hailstorm, personal vehicles parked in this area prevented our employees from protecting our trucks.

This location is PRIVATE PROPERTY — not public parking.

We do have photographs of license plates, and we ask that this be taken as a clear warning not to park here again.

Please respect PRIVATE PROPERTY so our team can protect the equipment we rely on to serve the community and do business.

HIRING: We’re looking for a full-time office team member to help support our customers and daily operations. This role is ideal for someone organized, friendly, dependable, and looking for a long-term position.

Responsibilities include:
• Managing and tracking customer accounts
• Answering phones and assisting customers
• Scheduling daily service routes
• Handling customer accounts receivable and payable
• Maintaining strong customer relationships and a positive team attitude
QuickBooks experience is a plus, but we will train the right person.

Position Details:
• Full-time, Monday–Friday, 8:00–5:00 (12–1 lunch)
• No nights or weekends
• Starting pay $15–$21/hour, depending on experience
• Bonuses based on company production
• Raises earned based on merit and performance
• Paid holidays
• Paid vacation after one year
• Generous company match on retirement IRA

Most of our customers have had the pleasure of meeting Eder Alvarez. This man lives his life to serve. Eder is also a volunteer fireman.

Your pest control service is the easy part of his service and trust me, he loves it. He has been working so hard since the early morning of July 4. Please shake this man’s hand when you see him next. He’s one of the silent heroes and I would ask that you extend kindness to all during this time- but especially those who gave so much to help save lives and unite families. 💚

For the many people who have reached out to check on our office manager, Valerie Tucker. She lost her home in the flood but thankfully is safe and back to work (she wanted to come- she missed “normal”). I spoke with her and got to hug her this morning and she’s is doing well (considering). She is surrounded by a village that loves her and her husband - including us! 💚

The New World screwworm fly has been detected in Veracruz, Mexico, prompting the U.S. Department of Agriculture to suspend cattle, horse and bison imports from Mexico to prevent its spread. While the closest detection is still 700 miles away, it remains a growing concern across the southern U.S., as the screwworm can cause devastating losses in livestock and wildlife industries.

Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service and Texas A&M AgriLife Research have released an updated fact sheet to provide key information and prevention measures for dealing with the New World screwworm. The fly, which feeds on living tissue in open wounds, can affect livestock, wildlife and even pets or humans.

JOB DETAILS
Conduct inspections to identify infestations of pests, to make proposals and presentations to obtain sales contracts
Prepare appropriate job specifications and treating instructions in accordance with existing laws, regulations, and company policy
Execute contracts on behalf of the company, observing company policies as to terms of sale and payment options

Regularly operate and maintain a company vehicle while keeping the vehicle and other equipment in clean and working order.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move over 50 pounds

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in outside weather conditions.

QUALIFICATIONS:
