The window for getting holiday inventory into the US by ocean is getting tight.

With major retailers requiring inventory by mid-October, late September is becoming the practical cutoff for many ocean shipments. Miss that window, and shippers may have to shift urgent cargo to air just as rates begin climbing.

For importers, the next few weeks aren't just about finding the lowest rate. Securing reliable capacity and protecting holiday inventory timelines matter more.

IEEPA refunds are moving, but getting approved and getting paid aren't always the same thing.

As of late August, thousands of approved refunds were reportedly still waiting for disbursement because importers hadn't completed their ACH refund setup in ACE. At the same time, each entry has its own clock based on its liquidation status, so waiting can narrow the available recovery options.

For importers that haven't filed yet, the first step is to review your entries and make sure your ACE and ACH setup is ready. A simple administrative delay can become an expensive one.

For international brands selling big and bulky products, entering the US market isn't just about finding demand. The physical design of the shipment can determine whether the economics work.

Something as simple as packaging dimensions can turn a standard residential delivery into one requiring specialized equipment and hundreds of dollars in added costs.

For oversized ecommerce, packaging and fulfillment strategy should be part of the expansion plan from day one. Small logistics decisions can make a big difference in whether a new market is profitable.

Shipping big items isn't a logistics issue, rather it's a margin issue.

If your product is just two inches too long, you lose standard truck delivery. Suddenly, you need a $500 crane. Your profit is gone, and your buyer is mad.

Flat shipping rates don't work for heavy goods. Neither do messy product sizes or rigid checkout pages. Buyers leave when they see bad shipping quotes, or no options at all.

Smart brands design their packaging to fit carrier size limits. They show real dynamic shipping fees at checkout. They make shipping part of the buying experience, not an afterthought.

Whether you're selling saunas, farm equipment, commercial fixtures, or VR systems, better freight automation isn't just about shipping. It's about making more products and markets commercially viable.

For arcade brands, the biggest ecommerce challenge often starts after the sale: delivery.

Flat-rate shipping may simplify checkout, but white-glove delivery costs can vary dramatically depending on location, stairs, placement, and the number of machines. One complex order can quickly erase the margin.

Dynamic freight and delivery pricing at checkout changes that equation. It gives customers an accurate cost upfront while helping sellers protect margins and expand into markets that were previously too difficult to serve.

Ocean freight rates aren't being driven by demand alone. Carrier capacity management is playing a major role.

Blank sailings, vessel rotations, and tighter space allocation are helping carriers keep rates firm even as trade uncertainty continues. At the same time, an unusually long peak season is putting more pressure on shippers trying to get holiday inventory into U.S. warehouses on time.

For importers, the bigger question isn't just where rates are headed. It's whether the space and timing they need will still be available.

IEEPA tariff refunds aren't just a customs issue. For finance teams, they can affect many parts of the company's finances.

Refunded duties can affect COGS, taxable income, EBITDA, debt covenants, and even transfer pricing, while statutory interest needs to be accounted for separately.

For companies receiving significant refunds, customs, accounting, tax, and treasury teams should be coordinating early. Getting the money back is only the first step, accounting for it correctly is just as important.

Ecommerce marketing has gone global, but shipping technology for big and bulky products is yet to keep up.

A furniture, fitness equipment, or sauna brand can reach customers anywhere in the world through social media, only to lose them at checkout because freight rates, duties, or residential delivery costs can't be calculated automatically.

For oversized ecommerce, the next growth opportunity isn't necessarily more demand. It's removing the logistics barriers that prevent existing demand from becoming a sale.
