Each new year brings with it a new set of personal goals. This is a good time to think about whether you are protected when life and death events happen. A few things to consider:

-Do you have a well documented plan in the event you become incapacitated? Who will care for your minor children? Would someone have access to your medical records or to speak to your doctors? What about making sure your household bills are paid?

-Do you have a young adult child? Perhaps a recent high school grad attending college or a young adult working their first job after high school or college. Are they protected? If they become incapacitated do they have the proper paperwork in order for their chosen representative to make medical decisions on their behalf? Does someone have the proper documentation in order to talk to their doctors, etc?

-Do you have a will? Is that document enough to meet your needs? Are you wanting to avoid putting your family through probate?

What a great program!!

Today, 20 girls from San Diego High School had breakfast with District Attorney Summer Stephan and then paired off with all of our female Division Chiefs/Assistant Chiefs to “ride-a-long” with them for the day.
This is part of a program organized by the DA’s San Diego Women Prosecutor’s group, to promote diversity in the legal profession and introduce girls to the law and the pathways to being a lawyer and judge.
