📦 TUESDAY TIDBIT – TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE!
When selling a home, timing can make all the difference—especially when you have years of belongings to sort through and a move ahead of you!
We recently started a total move project for clients who received a contract on their home. What does a total move involve?
✔️ Decluttering and downsizing
✔️ Packing belongings
✔️ Coordinating donations and trash removal
✔️ Managing move-day details
✔️ Unpacking and helping clients settle into their new home
Here’s the challenge: Once a contract is signed, buyers may request settlement in just two or three weeks. That might sound like enough time, but those weeks can disappear quickly while homeowners obtain quotes, choose a packing service, arrange movers, and make decisions about decades of accumulated belongings.
For older adults or anyone with physical limitations, trying to accomplish all this alone can be overwhelming.
Our current project is a perfect example. We originally planned to be packing, but the home needed decluttering and downsizing first. With other client commitments already scheduled, we have a tight timeline to complete the preparation, packing, move coordination, and unpacking. We’ll work hard to make it happen because that’s what Brunswick Organizing Solutions does—we help make challenging moves manageable!

TUESDAY TIDBIT – To Purge or Not to Purge?

It’s a question many people begin asking themselves in their 70s and 80s: Should I start letting go of some of my belongings?

🧴 TUESDAY TIDBITS – Is Your Bathroom Cabinet Older Than You Are? 😂

Medicine cabinets, makeup bags, vanity drawers, and linen closets can become the final resting place for products we forgot we owned!

Expired medications, makeup, skincare, and first-aid supplies can be less effective—or even irritating. Take a few minutes to check expiration dates and toss anything expired, discolored, or smelling suspicious. For medications, use a safe disposal location such as a pharmacy or other approved take-back site.

Have unopened products you no longer need? Check with local organizations to see what they accept.

🧺 TUESDAY TIDBIT: Is Your Kitchen Counter the Family’s Mailbox, Office & Storage Unit?

If your kitchen counter is holding the mail, bills, school papers, coupons, keys, receipts, three appliances, and something nobody remembers putting there…you’re not alone! 😂

Kitchen counters have a magical ability to attract everything—except the things you actually need when you need them.

Here are a few simple ways to take back your counter:

📬 Contain the paper!
Try a shallow basket, pretty tray, or letter holder for incoming mail and important papers. Give the paperwork a home instead of letting it form its own little community.

☕ Keep everyday appliances handy.
If you use the coffee maker or toaster every day, leave it out. No need to put away something you use constantly.

🍳 Everything else? Find it a home.
Air fryer, blender, slow cooker, specialty gadgets…if you don't use it regularly, consider giving it a home in a cabinet or pantry. Your counter will thank you!
