Our first 'An Evening with Industry' presented by BioRealty, Inc. brought together leaders from across the sector to celebrate the growth happening right here in our region and, more importantly, talk about how we can keep that momentum going.

As Workforce Development Month comes to a close, we highlight a strategic partnership that is helping shape the engineering workforce of tomorrow ⚙️

The partnership between the University of Kentucky and Lockheed Martin establishing the Engineering Center of Excellence represents a significant investment in Kentucky's future workforce.

The Center creates opportunities to strengthen the connection between higher education, industry, and workforce development, giving students greater exposure to real-world engineering challenges, advanced technologies, and career pathways.

Partnerships like this help ensure Kentucky is developing the highly skilled engineering talent needed to support innovation, advanced manufacturing, aerospace, and national defense industries.

Strengthening Lexington's Biotech & Biopharma Workforce 💪

Commerce Lexington is proud to partner with Bluegrass Community and Technical College (BCTC) on the launch of the KCTCS TRAINS Grant, an initiative designed to provide enhanced operator training for the region's growing biotech and biopharma industry.

The program helps equip workers with the specialized skills needed to support advanced manufacturing and biopharmaceutical operations—while giving employers access to a stronger, more prepared talent pipeline.

This partnership represents the power of aligning economic development, higher education, and industry to address workforce needs and position the Greater Lexington region for continued growth in biotech and biopharma.

Workforce Development Month - Building a Pathway to a Skilled Career ⚡

A strong workforce starts with creating accessible pathways into rewarding careers. AMTECK's Quick Start Program is doing just that, providing an entry point into the electrical trade for people with little or no prior experience.

The four-week, paid program combines classroom and hands-on training in basic electricity, construction applications, and job safety. Those who successfully complete the program have opportunities to move into full-time roles with Amteck and continue their training through the company's registered apprenticeship program.

It's a great example of how employers can invest directly in developing the skilled talent our region needs.
