The work feels different right now.
Working alongside nonprofits, advocates, organizers, and community leaders, I’m reminded every day that communications is about so much more than visibility. It’s about whose stories are heard, whose experiences are valued, and who feels seen.
And in today’s political climate, when so many are carrying fear, uncertainty, and exhaustion, it becomes even more important that we stay connected to what has always made us strong:
Nuestra cultura.
Nuestra voz.
Nuestra gente.
Nuestra latinidad.
Our strength has never come from being one thing or having one story. We come from different countries, traditions, accents, generations, and experiences. There is power in those differences; and in remembering that we belong to one another.
This work continues to remind me why I chose to serve the nonprofit and advocacy space.
Because telling our stories matters.
Showing up matters.
Making sure our voices are heard matters.
Protecting our identity doesn’t mean closing ourselves off from the world. It means knowing who we are as we move through it.
✨Que nunca se nos olvide de dónde venimos, quiénes somos y la fuerza que existe cuando caminamos juntos.✨
Especially now, nuestra latinidad deserves to be celebrated, protected, and carried forward.
