Ghosts of Gallows Hill is the perfect introduction to Hill City After Dark. It’s creepy without being over the top, packed with real Lynchburg history, and only about 75 to 90 minutes long.

We start on the steps of the Old Courthouse at the Lynchburg Museum and head out by lantern light to explore the darker side of Court House Hill.

Public executions. High-profile trials. Jailbreak attempts. Tragedy. Panic. And stories that have survived for generations.

We’ll dig into the strange and sometimes brutal history of Lynchburg’s old legal district, including the question: What really happened in 1878?

That year, a false alarm during a crowded church gathering caused a deadly stampede that left a permanent mark on the city.

No people jumping out of bushes. No cheesy haunted-house scares. Just a lantern-lit walk through one of Lynchburg’s oldest areas while hearing the true stories of the people who lived, died, and sometimes met a pretty unfortunate end right where you’re standing.
