Maneet Chauhan grew up in Ludhiana, Punjab, and brought her bold, layered South Asian flavors to the U.S., building a career that blends tradition with a modern point of view. She followed her passion for cooking to the Culinary Institute of America, pushing past expectations to carve out her place in the industry.

A James Beard Award–winning chef, restaurateur, and longtime judge on Chopped, she continues to bring global influence and creativity to everything she does. She’s also made history as the only Indian woman chef to compete on Iron Chef America and The Next Iron Chef.
Beyond the kitchen, she’s the founder of Indie Culinaire, leading innovative restaurant and hospitality concepts, launching a line of signature spices, and supporting causes centered on education, hunger relief, and women’s empowerment.

ā€œIndian cuisine cannot be put under one blanket statement because each and every state in India has a very distinct cuisine of its own; what you get in northern India is completely different from what you get in southern India. What I tell people is that what it boils down to is spices. I think that’s what makes Indian cuisine so distinct.ā€

Kristen Kish is a chef who has been redefining the culinary world with both her talent for cooking and her life story. Kristen was adopted as a baby from South Korea by a family that not only embraced her heritage, but intentionally kept her connected to her Korean culture as she grew up in the United States.

After winning Season 10 of Top Chef, she went on to become a host of the show, with both her and the series earning Primetime Emmy nominations. Today, she works as Chef and Partner at Arlo Grey in Austin, Texas while also hosting Iron Chef: Quest for an Iron Legend.

Her story shows how far the industry has come and how much stronger it becomes when more voices and experiences are welcomed at the table.

Sherman Yeung is a first-generation American whose parents immigrated from Hong Kong. He didn’t step into the kitchen professionally until nearly 30, wanting to hold onto the joy of cooking before turning it into a career.

Now well known in the Texas food scene as the chef-owner of Tobiuo Sushi & Bar, he’s building a growing restaurant presence rooted in both culture and community. His approach to food is thoughtful and intentional, blending technique with storytelling and creating experiences that feel both personal and innovative.

While his foundation is Cantonese, his work pulls inspiration from across Asia and reimagining it in a way that feels fresh and modern. Just as important, he’s committed to fostering diverse, inclusive kitchens that reflect the communities they serve and the future of the industry.

Ria Paz Montes was born in the Philippines and moved to the United States at just six years old, bringing her heritage and passion for food to everything she creates.

Now recognized as one of the leading female chefs in the DMV, Ria centers her culinary approach on sustainability and community, prioritizing locally sourced ingredients that support and uplift fishermen and farmers throughout the Chesapeake region.

ā€œBecause we were immigrants, our family meals were moments for us to hold onto our culture. It is a way to stay connected to not only my culture but also my parents and grandparents, it is ingrained in everything I do, but especially in my food.ā€
