We’ve entered an era where people proudly celebrate their “free” visibility on social media. The explainer videos, the polished anchor‑style reels, the vertical storytelling everyone swears is the new gold rush. But let’s stop pretending this is some benevolent gift from the tech gods.

It’s not free. It was never free. And deep down, you know that.

These platforms aren’t offering you reach out of kindness. They’re running a global operating system powered by one thing: human capital. Your creativity. Your time. Your face. Your voice. Your ideas. All harvested, packaged, and monetized at a scale you’ll never see a percentage of.

And the algorithm?

It’s not built to make you a star.

It’s built to make you hope you might become one.

A tiny fraction “wins,” just enough to keep the rest of the world posting, grinding, feeding the social media gremlin like it’s a hungry pet that might finally love you back. Meanwhile, the platforms rake in billions off the labor you call “content.”

Here’s the part most people avoid:
