The International Downtown Association (IDA) recently highlighted the need for collaborative relationships between police and Urban Place Management Organizations (UPMOs).

💡 Recognizing the need for collaboration is step one. But "what’s next?"

At Safe Night, we help downtowns, BIDs, and UPMOs bridge the gap between intent and ex*****on:
➡️ Standardized Operational Frameworks: Moving beyond traditional reactive enforcement by establishing a formal, relationship-based safety framework for downtown and commercial districts.
➡️ Data-Driven & Proactive Risk Management: Equipping place managers and law enforcement with structured models to address spatial vulnerabilities that support local businesses.
➡️ Collaborative Training: Aligning municipal agencies, private businesses, and public safety partners under a unified strategy.

Today, officers successfully completed Proactive Alliance Training, also known as Relationship-Based Policing.
The training focused on enhancing communication, building partnerships with community organizations and social-service providers, and developing proactive strategies to address local issues before they escalate into larger problems.
"This is next-level training for us," said Chief Jeffrey Meyers. "In a nutshell, it's taking community policing theories and putting those theories into real problem-solving actions. This training provides our officers with practical strategies to build stronger relationships, work collaboratively with our community partners, and address challenges before they become crises."
The training was made possible through a federal grant provided by the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) in partnership with the U.S. Department of Justice's Collaborative Reform Initiative Technical Assistance Center (CRI-TAC) and was instructed by Dimitrios Mastoras of Safe Night LLC.
The Port Royal Police Department remains committed to investing in innovative training opportunities that enhance professionalism, strengthen community partnerships, and ensure the highest level of service for the citizens of Port Royal.
