NONPROFIT SPOTLIGHT: Woodward Hines Education Foundation 🎓

Today’s spotlight is on an organization I am especially proud to work with — Woodward Hines Education Foundation (WHEF).
WHEF is a client of CLSimmons Consulting, and I have had the opportunity to see firsthand the commitment they have to helping Mississippi students access and complete a college education.

Sometimes, an organization’s mission is tested when circumstances change. What matters is how you respond.

Recently, when federal funding that helped foster children attend college was no longer available, WHEF stepped up committing $800,000 in funding to ensure these students would not suddenly be left without the financial support they needed to pursue their education.

That is what I call putting your mission into action.

Sometimes, making a difference starts with simply saying, “What can I do to help?”

Woodward Hines is providing $800,000 that will help about 170 children in foster care attend college in Mississippi. Through a donation from the Woodward Hines Education Foundation about 170 foster children in Mississippi will continue to receive financial aid for college.

NONPROFIT SPOTLIGHT: American Heart Association ❤️

Every nonprofit organization I work with is special to me for different reasons. But this one hits a little closer to home.

The American Heart Association - Mississippi
supports a mission that connects directly to my day-to-day life. I live with high blood pressure and diabetes, so I understand personally how important it is to be informed, proactive and intentional about taking care of your heart and your overall health.

Heart disease remains the #1 killer of women, which makes the American Heart Association’s work in research, education, prevention and awareness so incredibly important.

Their work isn’t just about treating heart disease. It’s about preventing it, recognizing the risks, advancing research and giving people the knowledge and resources they need to live healthier lives.

That’s why I’m proud to support an organization whose mission has both a personal and community impact for me.
And I’d love for you to join me!

NONPROFIT SPOTLIGHT: 2nd Chance MS 💚

At CLSimmons Consulting, we believe in giving back through our time, talent and resources. We’re fortunate to support many nonprofit organizations doing meaningful work in our communities, and over the next several days, we’ll be highlighting some of them.

First up: 2nd Chance MS.

I joined the 2nd Chance MS board nearly 10 years ago, and my longevity of service speaks to how much I believe in this organization’s mission.

2nd Chance MS provides adult learners with just that; a second chance. Through partnerships with community colleges, the organization provides gap funding to help nontraditional students overcome financial barriers that aren’t typically covered by student loans or other forms of student financial aid.

We are back in the office and it has me reminiscing over the past week.

We often talk about work-life balance discussing if it exist or not. I do believe it exist. It’s just that it doesn’t look the same for all.

For me, it is finding time to take a step back from the day to day. Taking time to rejuvenate and reset so I can finish the year strong.

A week from the office may not be feasible for many. So what do you do to reset your internal clock and what does balance look like for you?
