One of the most impactful parts of leadership is creating opportunities that extend beyond business growth and into community impact.

In Part 4 of BEYOND AVERAGE: Journeys through Growth & Value - Season 1 (2024), Larissa Lippe shares how Smart Kids Tutor is expanding its mission through the Smart Kids Tutor Foundation.

What stood out most was her focus on accessibility.

Larissa recognized that the students who often need tutoring support the most are also the families least able to afford it. Rather than accepting that reality, she began building partnerships with schools, nonprofit organizations, and university students to help make tutoring more accessible for underprivileged students.

One initiative currently in development includes a University of Florida fundraising club designed to support free and discounted tutoring programs for students in need.

A powerful reminder that businesses can scale impact when they align growth with purpose.

💡 Key takeaway:
Leadership is not only about building successful organizations. It’s also about creating systems that help more people access opportunities they otherwise may not have.

Most strategies don’t fail because the vision was wrong.

They fail because ex*****on gradually loses alignment, focus, and momentum.

In this edition of The Point Success Guide, we explore why ex*****on breaks down between planning and follow-through, including:
✔ Why strategy often fails to translate into daily work
✔ How competing priorities create organizational drift
✔ Why visibility and accountability weaken over time
✔ The importance of aligning ambition with organizational capacity

Because strategy creates direction…

But disciplined ex*****on is what creates results.

What makes a community truly impactful?

In this episode of Beyond Average, Kristin Carlson sits down with Carrie Garczynski to discuss wine, leadership, education, and the power of building communities through shared experiences.

One insight that stood out:

👉 Wine should feel approachable, educational, and enjoyable — not intimidating.

Carrie shares her journey into the wine industry, her work with the American Wine Society, and how passion-driven communities can create meaningful connection and lifelong learning.

A great conversation on leadership, curiosity, and creating experiences that bring people together.

One of the most impactful businesses are built with two goals in mind:

Creating value… and creating access.

In Part 3 of Beyond Average, Larissa Lippe shared how Smart Kids Tutor expanded beyond traditional tutoring services to launch the Smart Kids Tutor Foundation, a nonprofit focused on helping students who need academic support but may not be able to afford it.

One insight that stood out:

👉 The students who need support the most are often the ones with the least access to it.

While Smart Kids Tutor continues to grow its for-profit tutoring services across Sarasota and through virtual learning, Larissa recognized an even bigger opportunity to make an impact through partnerships with schools and local communities.

The mission behind the foundation is simple but powerful:

✔ Provide discounted or free tutoring to students in need
✔ Partner with school districts and community programs
✔ Make educational support more accessible for families

What’s especially inspiring is that this vision started while Larissa was still in high school herself.

A great reminder that entrepreneurship is not only about building a business.

It can also be about building solutions that strengthen communities and create opportunities for others.

💡 Key takeaway:
The strongest businesses often grow by solving problems, but the most meaningful ones also look for ways to increase access and impact along the way.

Most strategies don’t fail during planning.

They fail during ex*****on.

As organizations grow, decisions become more decentralized across teams, departments, and regions. While that creates speed and flexibility, it also creates a critical leadership challenge:

👉 Keeping decisions connected to shared priorities.

In this edition, we explore:
• Why ex*****on problems are often connection problems
• How teams unintentionally drift into silos
• What causes priorities to lose alignment over time
• Why decentralized organizations can still become fragmented
• How leaders can keep strategy connected across the business

Because the real challenge isn’t writing the strategy.

It’s ensuring decisions across the organization continue reinforcing it as the business grows.

One of the smartest leadership lessons often gets overlooked:

People stay where they feel valued.

In Part 2 of BEYOND AVERAGE: Journeys through Growth & Value - Season 1 (2024), podcast with Larissa Lippe, she shared how Smart Kids Tutor was designed not only to support students academically, but also to create meaningful opportunities for talented student tutors.

Instead of seeing high-performing students work long hours in traditional minimum wage jobs, Larissa recognized their skills could create far greater impact.

So she built a flexible, student-led environment where tutors could:
⭐ Use their talents in meaningful ways
⭐ Work flexible schedules around school
⭐ Gain leadership and teaching experience
⭐ Earn better compensation for the value they provide

One insight that stood out:

👉 Great businesses grow when they create value for both the customer and the team behind the mission.

Larissa also shared how much of their recruiting happens through referrals, teachers, guidance counselors, and school networks, creating a culture where strong people attract other strong people.

💡 Key takeaway:
When people feel supported, trusted, and valued, retention becomes much stronger naturally.

Most businesses don’t start with a business plan.

Sometimes they start with a problem someone personally experienced.

In Part 1 of BEYOND AVERAGE: Journeys through Growth & Value - Season 1 (2024), podcast with Larissa Lippe, she shares how her struggles during COVID-era learning led her to build Smart Kids Tutor while still in high school.

What started as one student and one tutor quickly grew into a student-led tutoring team supporting learners who were struggling to adapt to remote education.

One insight that stood out:

👉 Great businesses often begin by solving a challenge you deeply understand yourself.

Rather than letting frustration define her experience, Larissa stepped back, identified the gap, and created a solution built “for students, by students.”

Smart Kids Tutor has grown into a team of student tutors and administrators focused on helping students succeed academically while making learning more approachable and supportive.

A powerful reminder that leadership and innovation can start at any age.

💡 Key takeaway:
Sometimes the best opportunities come from recognizing a problem others are experiencing too, and deciding to do something about it.

Most organizations don’t fail because of bad strategy.

They struggle because ex*****on becomes inconsistent.

Plans are created.
Priorities are announced.
But somewhere between strategy and day-to-day operations, momentum slows.

In this edition of The Point Success Guide, we explore why the organizations that consistently outperform are not always the ones with the biggest ideas, but the ones that turn direction into disciplined, repeatable action.

Because in the end:
👉 Strategy sets the vision
👉 Consistent ex*****on creates the outcome

Short-term pressure is always there.

Targets to hit, deadlines to meet, numbers that need to land.

The shift happens when every decision starts to live there.

It feels necessary in the moment, but over time it narrows the business. Investment gets pushed out, capability doesn’t get built, and there’s less room to think ahead.

Most of the time, it’s not intentional. It’s just where the pressure leads.

Strong leadership isn’t about ignoring the short term. It’s about not letting it take over everything.

Because if every decision is made for today, there’s less left to build what comes next.

One question every growing business should ask:

👉 What can we truly become best in class at?

In Part 5 of Beyond Average, Brandi Harless shared a powerful insight inspired by the Good to Great “Hedgehog Concept.”

The strongest businesses don’t try to do everything.

They focus on the intersection of:

✔ What they can do exceptionally well
✔ What drives their mission
✔ What creates sustainable value

One insight that stood out:

👉 The future of healthcare isn’t just better technology.
👉 It’s making behavior change sustainable.

Brandi shared how their company is helping providers simplify healthcare implementation while supporting patients through practical behavior-change coaching and accountability.

💡 Leadership takeaway:

Beyond-average businesses become exceptional by solving one important problem extremely well.

So the question is:

Is your business positioned to become "Best In Class"?
