In a 2022 mental health and wellness assessment of 3,009 adults in South Florida, conducted by RER Consulting, first responders reported higher levels of depression and anxiety symptoms than any other employment group surveyed. Healthcare workers reported the lowest.

A city government wanted wellness programming that would reach employees across its departments, including police, fire, and sanitation crews working around-the-clock shifts.

Over two years, RER Consulting developed and delivered 56 wellness activations across more than 20 departments, reaching over 1,000 employees and residents. Sessions covered stress management, mindfulness, communication, and healthy eating, were scheduled around shift work, and were offered in English, Spanish, and Haitian Creole.

Of participants surveyed, 78% were satisfied or very satisfied, and 84.8% wanted more workshops.

RER Consulting develops and delivers wellness programming that accounts for employees caring for someone at home.

In a 2024 National Coalition for Cancer Survivorship study presented at the National Comprehensive Cancer Network annual conference, researchers surveyed 1,303 cancer patients and 506 caregivers and found that the caregivers reported greater disruption to their ability to work and to their productivity than the patients themselves did. The researchers observed that support programs for employees in active treatment are far more established than support for the employees caring for them.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and for some portion of any workforce this month is a description of their current life.
