I was working 100-hour weeks as a detective in Oakland and I still couldn't tell you where the money went.
That's the trap. Nobody warns you about it.
You work more hours to make more money. The bills grow to match. So you work more hours. And somewhere in there you look up and ten years are gone and you're in the exact same spot, just more tired.
I called it the American Trap in this video because that's what it is. It's not a personal failure. It's a design flaw in the whole arrangement.
Here's what got me out.
Every time somebody swipes a card at a business in your city, a fee gets paid. It happens millions of times a day and almost nobody thinks about who's collecting it. Merchant services is a $56 billion industry and it runs completely invisible to normal people.
Most business owners are getting eaten alive by processing fees and they don't even know what they're paying. And the overwhelming majority of them have never once had a real local rep sit down and explain it to them.
That's the gap. That's the whole thing.

I'm not going to promise you a number. Anybody promising you a number is selling you something. What I'll tell you is this business is built on residual income you get paid on transactions that happen whether you're working that day or not. That's the only kind of income that ever bought anybody their time back.
