MMPA Outstanding Young Dairy Cooperators (OYDCs) Bryan and Molly Benson, OYDC Runners-Up, Brandon and Deb Gingrich, and 2025 OYDCs Dale and Lynnae Dick attended the 2026 Joint Annual Meeting of the National Dairy Promotion and Research Board, National Milk Producers Federation and United Dairy Industry Association. Hosted in Kissimmee, Florida, the OYDCs participated in national young cooperator programming and engaged with fellow dairy producers and industry leaders on the issues, ideas and initiatives shaping the future of dairy.

Women have always been essential on the farm, from milking cows and raising calves to making the decisions that keep farm businesses moving forward. But having a role on the farm hasn’t always meant having a formal voice in the cooperative representing that farm.

From Joan Beatty, MMPA’s first female delegate in 1973, to Deanna Stamp, the first woman elected to MMPA’s board of directors in 1986, followed by Gertie van den Goor, and today’s board member Amy Gingrich, these women reflect on leadership, farming and the evolving role of women in MMPA.
