Congratulations to our Middle Michigan recipients of the Consumers Energy Community Impact Awards!

Friends of the Broadway Theatre in Mt. Pleasant was awarded $20,000 to repair the historic theater's exterior, preserving a downtown Mt. Pleasant landmark and community gathering space

Sleepy Dog Books Foundation in Mt. Pleasant was awarded $20,000 to support childhood literacy by providing free books of children's choice through a partnership with pediatric providers

Marion Community Fire Department in Marion received $20,000 to expand year-round training for local firefighters and EMS personnel through improved classroom space and training equipment.

New housing project approved in Mt. Pleasant! 50 new units planned as part of the Mill Street Landing Project.

On Sept. 28, the Mount Pleasant City Commission approved modifications to the Mill Street Landing Project. The project will include 50 new affordable housing units near the intersection of Walnut Street and Mill Street.

Rent will be determined based on the household’s income, and the apartments will be open to anyone in need, including Mount Pleasant residents, families and college students.

“We’re just trying to do what’s best for the city,” Amy Perschbacher, a member of the Mount Pleasant city commission, said.

If it is approved by the state, construction will not likely begin until 2028.
