Gov. Bill Lee proclaimed last week David Crockett Week in Tennessee, honoring one of the state’s most legendary frontiersmen. The initiative — also recognized by the legislature as “Bring David Crockett Home Week” — celebrated Crockett’s legacy and roots. Born in Tennessee in 1786, Crockett went on to become a soldier, storyteller, and U.S. Congressman before famously fighting at the Battle of the Alamo.

The proclamation also came as work continues to restore David Crockett Birthplace State Park after Hurricane Helene, preserving the site where his story began and ensuring this important piece of history is shared with future generations. Special thanks to the Tennessee State Parks Conservancy for raising funds to build a new visitors center and museum!
