Dolly Parton defied every stereotype she encountered during her amazing career. She was a 58 year AFM 257 member, joining on December 12, 1967. She navigated her way through multiple generations of country music, as an artist and songwriter who was beloved by countless music fans around the world. She crossed over every obstacle and boundary she was presented with, while always making sure that taking care of her family, band, and support team was a top priority. Musically, she crossed over from country to pop, rock, Americana and more, and always sounded like herself, no matter what the context of any particular project. She became an actor, entrepreneur, and was a generous donor to many great causes. Her philanthropic gifts were amazing and diverse, and have helped countless people far beyond her roots in East Tennessee.
Dolly was a totally unique person and her music was a combination and reflection of her God given talents, her amazing life experiences, and ability to morph into any number of roles depending on the situation. No matter where her artistic journey took her, she always kept her integrity and personality intact. She was smart, kind, generous and compassionate. There will never be another Dolly Parton, and we are grateful for all she gave to us. Rest in Peace, Dolly, you certainly deserve it, and we take comfort in knowing you and your beloved Carl are together again. Thank you from all of us in the music community. We will always love you.
