2016: What a time to be a health practitioner or nutritionist.
A time when:
- we were drinking our weight in kombucha, bone broth lattes, beer kvass, and collagen drinks
- homemade gummy bears were your weekend hobby
- people were still struggling to know whether it’s best to eat the whole egg or egg whites
- we were out here making our own almond milk, sprouting our almonds, and wringing out our cauliflower pizzas in tea towels
- we were washing our hair with apple cider vinegar and despised shampoo
- we stopped all perfumes and scents
- the nontoxic beauty was hard to find
- I wasn’t sick of beef sticks yet.
- blue light glasses were not popular and just coming on the scene and you looked insane if you wore them (nerd alert)
- my idols at the time were and they were still gaining popularity
- we posted about and only
- It was hard to find pre made healthy food anywhere (I prayed you could just buy some grain free snacks on the shelf!)
- you could post about raw milk and the Vx word without it being a political debate
- no one carried water bottles and no one drank enough water.
- everything was made of almonds (probably hurting our sensitive guts even more lol)
- cold smoothies were life (see comment above about hurting our guts)
- Everything was re-made into a flour! Cassava, plantain, cauliflower, tiger nuts
- coconut butter - the best discovery!
- I think I made my first fat bomb
- coconut oil was your moisturizer, chapstick, and cooking oil
- you could post a blurry pic of a bowl of broccoli with a three word caption and get 75 likes and comments
- word swag was all the rage — adding text on top of pictures! Can life get any better?!
I miss some of the effort I used to put into meals and being healthy — I’m re-inspired!
The wellness industry has changed so much in so little time. It’s literally wild.
Have you been around since 2016?! Thank you for sticking around with me!!
What’s your favorite thing you miss?! What else did I forget?!
