We serviced a home for ants today where the customer kept seeing activity in the same spot inside the house.
After inspecting the area, we found a small crack along a settled mortar line in the foundation (and a few broken bricks) where the ants were entering from outside.
A lot of ant problems start from tiny structural gaps like this that most homeowners would never notice. Finding the entry point is often the key to solving the problem long term. Not just spraying the ants you can see.
Serving Joplin, Webb City, Carl Junction, Nevada MO, and Miami OK.

Refreshing mulch this spring? Make sure to leave a 2–3 inch gap between the mulch bed and your foundation. This simple step helps reduce moisture buildup and makes it harder for pests to find their way inside.

Small details like this, combined with our Whole-Structure Protection approach, create a stronger, more reliable barrier around your home.

For even better results, consider using rock or rubber mulch near the foundation to help lower the risk of termite activity.

If you’ve got a brick home and keep seeing ants… there’s a reason.

Most people don’t realize their house itself and unique soil conditions in the midwest might be attracting them.

Here’s what’s actually going on:

Quick Answer (TL;DR)Brick homes often attract ant colonies because mortar joints crack, brick holds heat, and the foundation area traps moisture—all conditions ants actively seek when choosing nesting sites. Research on ant nesting behavior shows colonies prefer environments with stable temperatur...

Did you know bed bugs actually avoid water?
A new university study found that bed bugs instinctively turn away from wet surfaces.

Quick Answer: New Study Reveals Bed Bugs Avoid Moisture (TL;DR) New research from the University of California, Riverside shows that bed bugs actively avoid wet surfaces due to drowning risk. This behavior may cause them to disperse during improperly applied treatments. In Joplin, MO and surrounding...

Anthrenus verbasci! Your least favorite bug you may not know about

Also known as the varied carpet beetle, this tiny pest might look harmless, but its larvae can cause big problems! They love to feed on natural fibers like wool, silk, and even your favorite vintage clothing. The larvae can also cause rashes similar to beg bug bites. If you spot these little beetles or their fuzzy larvae around your home, it’s time to check for infestations in carpets, clothing, and stored fabrics.

Prevention Tips:
- Vacuum regularly, especially in closets and under furniture
- Store off-season clothing in sealed containers
- Wash or freeze thrifted and secondhand items before bringing them inside
