“Splitting the sticks” is a term used in reference to maneuvering a vessel that has two or more engines. Putting either engine in forward and the other engine in reverse, will make the boat to spin without the need for a bow thruster. With a bow thruster engaged against the spin, the boat will start to walk sideways.
