🍎When Effort Needs a New Direction🌱

For years, I have worked hard.
I showed up. I gave my time, my energy, my skills, and my heart. Just like the person watering the apple tree, I kept pouring into my work, believing that eventually the results would grow.

And yes, the company grew.
But I started asking myself a difficult question: Why isn't my own life growing with it?

The picture reminds me that effort is important, but where that effort is planted matters just as much.

One person is watering rich soil, and something beautiful is growing. Another is pouring the same precious water onto concrete, where it simply runs away.

That hit home for me.

Sometimes we can work harder and harder, yet remain in the same place because our effort is being poured into something that isn't changing our situation.

That doesn't mean the years were wasted. My years in healthcare taught me discipline, compassion, resilience, and how to keep going when things get difficult.

But now I'm learning something different:
Sometimes the answer isn't to work harder. Sometimes it's to change where the effort is being planted.

That is part of the reason I started building my digital business.

I'm not looking for an overnight miracle. I'm planting a new seed, learning new skills, and giving myself permission to believe that this chapter can grow differently from the last one.

Because effort matters.
But where we plant that effort can matter even more. 🌱🍎

Here is a short story of this amazing lady:

She was caught mid-turn, over her shoulder, with that look that says I know exactly who I am.

In this room, with the little lamp in the corner, she had spent years taking care of everyone else, but in this moment she let the camera see her.

Long, strong, shining hair that she had grown and cared for herself, a favorite dress, and a quiet confidence.

She didn't need to pose perfectly. One glance told the whole story, I have lived, I have loved, I am still becoming.

And years later, that same glow is still there, just in a different hairstyle, wiser and even more beautiful.

This was her Bahamian 🇧🇸 lifestyle over twenty plus years ago and still going strong.

WE often praise effort as if effort alone guarantees results.

Work hard. Wake up earlier.
Be more disciplined. Never gives up.

And those ideas have value.
But there is a deep truth.

Effort is only an input.
Direction determines what that effort can produce.

Sometimes wisdom is not working.
Look at your surroundings ask yourself:

Is this environment helping me grow?
Because there is a brutal reality about life:

I planted the seeds.
I watered it consistently.

Effort matters. But effort multiplied by the right environment, directions and strategy is what create extraordinary results.

Before asking yourself, "Am I working hard enough? Ask a more important question: "Am I working in the right place?"
