We are proud to share that AB 1786, legislation championed on behalf of the San Gabriel Valley Council of Governments (SGVCOG), has been signed into law!

Authored by Assemblymember John Harabedian, this legislation expands access to best value construction contracting for counties, cities, and SGVCOG, allowing eligible agencies to use this approach for construction projects exceeding $500,000. By expanding these contracting options, AB 1786 provides local agencies with greater flexibility to evaluate contractors based on overall value and project needs.

We are excited to share that Townsend Public Affairs has helped secure eight Office of Traffic Safety grants totaling $376,671 to support traffic safety programming across California!

With eight of the nine applications submitted receiving awards, these grants will fund a range of local initiatives, including first responder extrication equipment to help rescue individuals from vehicle crashes, DUI checkpoints, and school crossing guards to help keep students safe.

Thank you to Senator Steven Choi and Assemblymembers Tri Ta, Sharon Quirk-Silva, and Cottie Petrie-Norris for joining the Orange County Community College Legislative Coalition for an important discussion on higher education, workforce development, and legislative priorities for 2027!

TPA was proud to moderate this conversation and bring together legislative leaders and community college representatives to discuss the issues shaping the future of California’s community colleges.

We appreciate the Coalition’s continued leadership and our legislative partners’ engagement in supporting students, strengthening workforce pathways, and expanding educational opportunities across Orange County.

We are proud to share that AB 1728, legislation supported by TPA on behalf of Yosemite Community College District, has been signed into law!

Authored by Assemblymember Juan Alanis, AB 1728 advances the development of a common course numbering and alignment system for career technical education public safety courses, including firefighting and law enforcement programs. This effort will help improve course alignment across California community colleges, reduce barriers for students, and support pathways into critical public safety careers.

We are excited to share that Townsend Public Affairs has successfully secured $250,000 in partnership with the City of Monterey Park, through the California Office of Emergency Services’ (CalOES) State and Local Cybersecurity Grant Program!

This funding will support the City’s Cybersecurity Upgrades Project, helping strengthen its cybersecurity infrastructure and enhance the City’s ability to protect critical systems, data, and services from evolving cyber threats. These investments will help improve the City’s cybersecurity resilience and ensure it is better prepared to safeguard essential public services and the community it serves.

At TPA, we are proud to champion initiatives that strengthen California communities and help public agencies secure the resources needed to advance critical priorities. This latest achievement reflects the City's commitment to providing excellent service, fostering growth and opportunity, and creating a joyous and collaborative environment.

We are excited to share that Townsend Public Affairs has successfully secured $30 million in partnership with the City of Benicia-Government through the Bay Area Air District’s Bay REPAIR Catalyst Grant Program!

This funding will support a wide range of community-driven projects, including expanding clean energy and public EV charging, electrifying city buildings and emergency vehicles, improving parks and shoreline access, planting trees, and supporting new jobs and a stronger local economy.
