A lot of business owners think cyber insurance works like this:

✅ Buy policy

✅ Get hacked

✅ File claim

✅ Get paid

Unfortunately, it may not be that simple.

Many cyber insurance applications now ask about:

Multi-Factor Authentication
Employee cybersecurity training
Backups
Security monitoring
Incident response plans

In other words...

Your insurance company wants to know what you're doing to reduce risk before they're willing to assume the risk.

Cyber insurance is important.

But it should be your safety net—not your cybersecurity strategy.

Would your organization pass scrutiny if you had to file a claim tomorrow?

You Have Cyber Insurance... But Are You Actually Covered?

One of the most dangerous assumptions I hear from business owners is:

"We're good. We have cyber insurance."

But what if your insurance company asks:

❓ Do you have MFA enabled?
❓ Are employees receiving cybersecurity training?
❓ Do you have a documented incident response plan?
❓ Are you actually doing the things you said you were doing on the application?

Having a policy and qualifying for a payout are not always the same thing.

We took a closer look at what Oklahoma businesses should know before they find themselves filing a claim.

Most organizations spend their time trying to be better.

TThe Savannah Bananasowner Jesse Cole spent his time trying to be different.

When the Savannah Bananas started, they weren't selling out stadiums.

In fact, they were struggling.

Instead of copying what every other baseball team was doing, Jesse asked a different question:

"What would fans actually want?"

That simple shift led to a "Fans First" philosophy that transformed a struggling baseball team into one of the most talked-about sports organizations in the world. Today, the Savannah Bananas sell out stadiums, have millions on a waiting list, and have created a brand people can't stop talking about.

One of the biggest lessons JJosh Cochrantook away from meeting Jesse wasn't about baseball.

It was about having the courage to stand out.

To wear the yellow suit.

To challenge the way things have always been done.

To create an experience people remember.

At Diverse CTI, we may not dance on baseball fields or wear yellow tuxedos, but the message resonates deeply with us.

We answer our phones live.

We speak in plain English.

We focus on creating an unmatched customer experience.

And we believe being "good enough" is often the biggest threat to becoming great.

Thank you, Jesse, for reminding us that sometimes the safest thing you can do is stop trying to blend in.

Because nobody remembers average.

Most cyberattacks don't start with a hacker.

They start with trust.

Cybercriminals are spending less time trying to break into networks and more time trying to convince good people to make bad decisions.

A recent Oklahoma county reportedly lost more than $212,000 after a cyber-related financial incident, proving that cybersecurity isn't just about technology—it's also about people, processes, and verification.

Before approving a payment, ask:

✅ Urgent?
✅ What changed?
✅ Who's asking?
✅ Does something feel different?

Those four questions could save your organization thousands.

Over the past few weeks, we’ve walked through what actually happens during a cyber incident.
Not just the technical side—
But the communication breakdown, operational impact, legal pressure, and internal response.

And one thing becomes clear every time:
Most businesses aren’t unprepared…
They’ve just never walked through it before.

If a cyber incident impacted your business tomorrow…
Where would you stand?
