What makes home care truly exceptional? It starts with values that live at every level of an organization.

At HomeCare Advocacy Network, our five core values aren't just for frontline caregivers. They're a promise we make to each other—from care advocates to office leaders to franchise owners.

Here's what guides us:

🤝 Pursue the Genuine Success of Others — We want the person on the other side of every relationship to truly thrive.

⭐ Elevate the Privilege of Caregiving — We honor and support the people who choose this important work.

💡 Embrace Innovation — We stay curious and challenge "the way we've always done it."

❤️ Relationship Before Task — People come first. Clients before checklists. Relationships before transactions.

🙏 Treating Each Other With Dignity and Respect — Not just when it's easy, but with families, coworkers, and everyone we serve.

When these values shape a culture, families feel the difference. That's how we build something special together.

There's nothing quite like being in the same room with the people who make our mission real. ❤️

This week, our co-founder, Mark Goetz, got to spend time with our amazing Council Bluffs, IA team — Niki, Tara, Felicia, and Alysha.

These four show up every single day for the seniors in their community. They bring warmth, patience, and a personal touch to work that truly matters — helping older adults stay safe and comfortable in the place they love most: home.

That's the heart of what we do at HCAN. We partner with dedicated local teams to bring home care and senior living together, so families get compassionate care from people who genuinely know and love their community.

To Niki, Tara, Felicia, and Alysha: thank you. Your care makes a difference in more lives than you'll ever know. 🙌
Council Bluffs is lucky to have you — and so are we.

Please join us in celebrating our 2025 Caregiver of the Year: Tanya Allen from our HomeCare Advocacy Network of Clearwater office!

This is the highest honor we give, and it's reserved for someone who truly reflects what we believe: caregivers are the heart of everything we do.

Tanya earned this recognition through daily acts of compassion, unwavering professionalism, and a rare gift for building trust with the families they serve.

One moment says it all. During a recent health scare where a client became suddenly disoriented, Tanya remained incredibly calm and professional, following all protocols while simultaneously soothing the client’s anxiety. Her quick thinking and ability to communicate clearly with the family during the crisis prevented a hospital readmission and earned her the lifelong gratitude of the client's spouse. That's the kind of care that changes lives.

One family put it simply: they described Tanya as an "angel" We couldn't agree more. 💚

Tanya, thank you for showing our community what exceptional care looks like every single day.

Picture this: a line of people stretching around the building, every one of them waiting to wish one special woman a happy birthday.

That woman is Dorothy Mitchell of Elkin, North Carolina, and she just turned 100. 🎉

Her family and friends showed up to celebrate the milestone, and Dorothy's reaction will warm your heart. "This is wonderful. I don't know how to appreciate it enough," she said.

So what's her secret to a long, healthy life? It's wonderfully simple: soap and water, plus spending time with good company.

There's something beautiful in that. Aging well isn't about anything complicated. It's about caring for yourself and staying close to the people who love you.

Dorothy's story is the perfect reminder that the simple things really do matter most. Give it a read this Friday and let it put a smile on your face.

What if a robot could help someone stay in the home they love a little longer?

Meet Robbie. 🤖

Brenda and Brian Marquis of Durham, New Hampshire struggled to find enough home care support. So they found an unexpected helper.

A few times a day, Robbie rolls out to nudge Brian, who lives with a traumatic brain injury and dementia, through his routine: exercise, meals, hydration, medication, and reminders to wash up.

"It just really kind of set me free, almost," Brian said.
It freed Brenda too. She can run errands or join a mahjong game, knowing Robbie is there to help.

There's real promise here for aging in place. But here's the part worth pausing on: helpful tech should support caregivers, not replace them.

A robot can offer a reminder. It can't offer the empathy, trust, and connection that real care depends on. That still takes a person.

So we're curious 💬 Where do you think technology helps, and where must the human touch stay?

The decades-long quest to build home robots that are both helpful and lifelike — spurred on by fictional machines like "The Jetsons'" humanoid maid Rosie — is still mostly a pipe dream, but some developers are getting closer

Mothers hold so much together, often in ways no one else sees.

This Mother’s Day, we’re honoring the moms and maternal figures who lead with love, give with patience, and show up day after day for the people who matter most. From the quiet acts of care to the big moments of strength, their impact reaches farther than words can say.

To every mom, grandmother, stepmom, aunt, and caregiver who nurtures with compassion and grace: thank you. Your love creates comfort, your support builds confidence, and your presence helps families feel safe, steady, and connected.

Today is a beautiful reminder to pause and celebrate the women who have shaped our lives with wisdom, warmth, and unwavering care.
