Picture this: a line of people stretching around the building, every one of them waiting to wish one special woman a happy birthday.

That woman is Dorothy Mitchell of Elkin, North Carolina, and she just turned 100. 🎉

Her family and friends showed up to celebrate the milestone, and Dorothy's reaction will warm your heart. "This is wonderful. I don't know how to appreciate it enough," she said.

So what's her secret to a long, healthy life? It's wonderfully simple: soap and water, plus spending time with good company.

There's something beautiful in that. Aging well isn't about anything complicated. It's about caring for yourself and staying close to the people who love you.

Dorothy's story is the perfect reminder that the simple things really do matter most. Give it a read this Friday and let it put a smile on your face.

What if a robot could help someone stay in the home they love a little longer?

Meet Robbie. 🤖

Brenda and Brian Marquis of Durham, New Hampshire struggled to find enough home care support. So they found an unexpected helper.

A few times a day, Robbie rolls out to nudge Brian, who lives with a traumatic brain injury and dementia, through his routine: exercise, meals, hydration, medication, and reminders to wash up.

"It just really kind of set me free, almost," Brian said.
It freed Brenda too. She can run errands or join a mahjong game, knowing Robbie is there to help.

There's real promise here for aging in place. But here's the part worth pausing on: helpful tech should support caregivers, not replace them.

A robot can offer a reminder. It can't offer the empathy, trust, and connection that real care depends on. That still takes a person.

So we're curious 💬 Where do you think technology helps, and where must the human touch stay?

The decades-long quest to build home robots that are both helpful and lifelike — spurred on by fictional machines like "The Jetsons'" humanoid maid Rosie — is still mostly a pipe dream, but some developers are getting closer

Mothers hold so much together, often in ways no one else sees.

This Mother’s Day, we’re honoring the moms and maternal figures who lead with love, give with patience, and show up day after day for the people who matter most. From the quiet acts of care to the big moments of strength, their impact reaches farther than words can say.

To every mom, grandmother, stepmom, aunt, and caregiver who nurtures with compassion and grace: thank you. Your love creates comfort, your support builds confidence, and your presence helps families feel safe, steady, and connected.

Today is a beautiful reminder to pause and celebrate the women who have shaped our lives with wisdom, warmth, and unwavering care.

Some moments remind us that love is often shown in the simplest, most meaningful ways.

This story shares a touching example of family, compassion, and honoring a senior’s final wish. When one grandson helped make sure his grandfather could experience one last ride on the family farm, he gave him more than a memory, he gave him comfort, dignity, and a beautiful moment of connection.

It’s a heartfelt reminder to cherish the time we have and create meaningful moments with the people we love most.

A central Iowa family is sharing a heartfelt moment after a former Hawkeye helped grant his grandfather’s final wish — one last ride through the fields he loved.

According to the AARP 'Valuing the Invaluable 2026' report, family caregivers provided 49.5 billion hours of care in 2024. This "invisible workforce" contributes an estimated $1 trillion in unpaid labor—a burden that is rapidly becoming unsustainable for families across the nation.

At HomeCare Advocacy Network (HCAN), we recognize this staggering caregiving gap as a critical community need. It also represents a massive opportunity for compassionate entrepreneurs with a background in healthcare to build a thriving, purpose-driven business. By introducing organized homecare solutions to your community, you can empower families and provide much-needed relief to these dedicated caregivers.

"I feel alone." It’s one of the most common feelings among caregivers, but the reality is you are part of a silent army of millions.

Emma Heming Willis recently shared her personal journey caring for her husband, Bruce Willis, shining a light on the "invisible labor" that so many of you perform every day out of love. It’s not just about the physical tasks; it’s about the mental load, the grief, and the exhaustion that comes with navigating a system not built for you.

Caregivers deserve to be recognized, but more importantly, you deserve meaningful support so you don't have to shoulder this responsibility in isolation. Read this powerful piece on why caregiving is a national crisis we can't ignore.

Caregiving has meant confronting how unprepared our culture is to support families navigating FTD. It's a 24/7 responsibility, with little support.
