Cybercrime is not getting quieter.

The FBI’s 2025 IC3 report recorded more than 1 million complaints and $20.877 billion in reported losses.

Phishing and spoofing were the most-reported crime type by complaint count, with 191,561 complaints.

For business leaders, the takeaway is practical: make suspicious messages easy to report, verify payment and account-change requests outside of email, keep systems updated, use multi-factor authentication, and have a response plan in place before an incident happens.

The basics are not flashy, but they are still where good security starts.

Microsoft's 2026 research reports that 58% of surveyed AI users say they are producing work they could not have done a year ago, while 66% say AI is giving them more time for higher-value work.
