It’s almost brunette season! How are you planning to embrace your dark hair? A lot of my clients love to add warmth and rich tones to their hair, adding glosses to add shine and hydration, and layered haircuts to add extra body and movement to their styling.

I love to add dimension into my brunettes and keep the tones subtle without a ton of contrast, this keeps the overall look very rich and understated in the most iconic expensive brunette way! You saw my pinned post about my schedule & service menu changes, now I want to elaborate! Sure, every hairstylist raises their prices, I’ve held off on this for a couple of years now. But with my price increase comes more value to your services, because I want to increase the quality of what I do.

Most stylists want you to have the best hair results & the best hair health. But every preventative product, every hair treatment, and every hair mask is an added cost. And sometimes aren’t even offered or explained why they’re needed- and you end up with hair that doesn’t get protected and treated because of that. And how would you know these things exist or are needed?

I get it! I customize my services so that you don’t have to ask me to use several techniques to get the hair you want, i just do it, because why would you know that just a highlight isn’t going to give you the look you want? Keeping her blonde extremely blended and a ton of her natural throughout & toned neutral is what keeps her hair looking gorgeous year round. The key to getting copper hair that looks vibrant yet still natural enough to look like your grew it yourself is intensional placement of color to create natural looking dimension and formulations that don’t look too orange or too hollow. Rich layers of pigments and glossy finishes with subtle dimension that catches the light, now that’s the kind of copper that remains timeless rather than just a trend.

What makes a color look expensive, luxurious, chic, and timeless? Your hair health, tones that reflect your skins natural tones, dimension, and placement that blends effortlessly with your grow out.

This is a client of mine who has beautiful hair, her natural base is quite ashy and we used to create gorgeous bright vanilla blondes on her and she looked beautiful. But this time we decided it was time to change it up. She didn’t know what she wanted (besides cutting about 4-5 inches!) and she put the reins in my hands.

I decided to plan her hair color around her skin tone, eyes, and personal style (low maintenance and effortlessly beautiful), & instead of going with her naturally ashy base i added in depth using a warm beige, matched the root blend to add in subtle warmth to her ashy base (this will create a translucent blend so it continues to be low maintenance rather than needed a root touch up soon), and then added some teased highlights and toned over everything with a golden neutral tone to tie together all the new warmth that was applied.

The way her skin was glowing like she just came back from a vacation was insane. The power of using your own skin to create a color palette for your hair is magic. This is timeless hair, this is effortlessly chic.

My favorite way to add blonde into a dark brunette base, blended, bright pops through the ends, and rich tones.

The grow out is so soft and seamless that you have the lowest maintenance there is when it comes to dimensional blonding.

Shay’s brunette to blonde transformation, broken down & with nothing left out, including the realities of lightening over artificially colored hair.⬇️

Shay has naturally very dark level 3/4 hair, she also is a hairstylist who loves to play with her color! She’s been lightened, colored over, toned, colored, over and over because that’s what we do😂 So here’s the reality, she wanted a huge blonde transformation, I consider myself a blonding specialist so of course I was like let’s do this. I knew there was doing to be a loss of a few inches because of the shape her ends were already in, she knew this too and we were okay with it. And this wasn’t without using everything in my arsenal to protect and repair her hair.

Steps simplified:
1. Applied K18 for maximum protection (this product is insane for protecting your hair from lightener, yes you can add this onto your appointment, in Nov when my menu changes these extras will not be an extra add on as i am focusing on all services having every thing included for the best results!😉)

2. THIN sections of slices, babylights, and teased slices throughout her entire head. Thin is necessary to achieve this level of lightening and this will also avoid overheating leading to low & uneven lift and damage.

3. Washed & applied a cocktail of hair treatments and masks.

4. Toned

5. Another cocktail of treatments and masks

6. We cut about 3 inches off and styled her as usual.

This transformation took 5 hours, several bowls of lightener, a ton of preventative and repair treatments, and we are stunned with her results.

Remember these results take time, patience, and careful planning and attention.
