Yesterday I discovered that a round-robin presentation is basically law enforcement’s version of: “Great presentation. Now reset and do it again.” 😂
I had the honor of presenting Financial Readiness during our National Academy Student Expertise Showcase. There are 250+ law enforcement leaders from around the world in our session, and groups rotated through the presentation throughout the showcase.
The conversation was simple. No products. No sales pitch. Just: Where are our employees struggling financially? Where are WE struggling? How can leaders help? How do we get more comfortable talking about money? And how does financial stress affect mental health, relationships, sleep, physical health, and the other pillars of wellness?
One student wrote: “Financial wellness coaching was phenomenal. Well needed.”
Another identified the financial discussion as the most valuable part because it was something we don’t normally cover.
When I started teaching this stuff years ago, I never imagined I’d have the opportunity to discuss it here, with leaders from across the U.S. and around the world.
Pretty cool day. And after several rounds, I can now confirm: I can give this presentation in my sleep.
