Myth #2: It’s better to say nothing than say the wrong thing.

Yes, there are times to stay silent; it may not be safe. But when you *need* to speak up, the guided program series gets you ready.

Conversation skills can be taught, and in the Racism in America: What is Mine to Do? video program series, our participants left with more confidence to speak up when the opportunity arises.

“To protect my hope. No matter what.” - L.A. workshop participant, on ‘What is Mine to Do?’

The 12 participants culminated the experience by reflecting on the titular question: what is mine, uniquely mine, to do in the fight against racism?

From becoming a more thoughtful listener to engaging with family on difficult topics, each participant left with a clear idea for their next right step.

We believe we can’t have grown up in America without harboring racial bias: conscious and unconscious. We’re not here to agree on the extent of racism. But we’re all called to look inside at how it’s showing up in us.

And ask: “When it comes to racism in America, what is mine– uniquely mine – to do?”

This training shows one way to make an impact: have conversations about race. Pick up our FREE Viewer’s Guide and dive into the video program today. Go through the guided process alone or with others to practice the eight conversational skills we reveal.

When it comes to talking about race in work and in life, we bust 2 myths that commonly hold us back.

1.) It’s not up to me to start the conversation.
2.) It’s better to say nothing than to say the wrong thing.

This stops us before we can even get started. The good news? We show you how to get unstuck. How to find the confidence and learn new skills to start – and stay – in meaningful conversations about the issues you care about deeply.

We filmed twelve participants as they bust these myths over the course of the YouTube Race Conversations Video. Watch just a few of their breakthrough moments below!

For years, Inward Bound designed leadership workshops and coached teams. Over time, one thing became clear: our biggest impact related to training about conversations on race so teams could deliver results together.
Over time, workshops matured. We made a big investment, filming a workshop live in an L.A. studio. No actors, no subject matter experts, but 12 amazing people and 2 master trainers demonstrating the Before and After impact of our 8 conversation exercises.
This year we’re excited to gift this training video to everyone, for FREE on YouTube. Edited down into 18 accessible 3-10 minute video clips. With a FREE 22-page Viewer’s Guide to take you through the 8 exercises. Watch alone and find out how to host groups, too.
At Inward Bound, we call conversation our Technology of Change. Conversations about race and racism change you, and they change those around you.
