Paranormal Thursday: Myth vs Fact

MYTH: Spirits can only interact through electronic equipment.

FACT: Many reported experiences happen without any equipment at all.

People have described hearing voices, smelling perfume, feeling a touch, or seeing movement with nothing more than their own senses.

Equipment can help document experiences.

But sometimes the most powerful evidence is simply what people experience firsthand.

What convinced you that the paranormal might be real?

Haunted Maryland Series

The B&O Railroad Museum Roundhouse – Baltimore, Maryland

The B&O Railroad Museum is known for preserving railroad history, but some visitors believe it may also preserve something else.

Employees and guests have reported:

β€’ Footsteps in empty areas
β€’ Shadow figures moving between train cars
β€’ Unexplained voices when no one is nearby
β€’ Strange feelings of being watched

Given the long history of railroad accidents and the thousands of workers who passed through these tracks, some believe the echoes of the past never fully left.

Whether paranormal or simply the weight of history, many agree:

Some places feel different after dark.

Would you investigate here?

MYTH OR FACT?

Myth: Paranormal investigators are more likely to experience activity simply because they expect it.

Fact: Studies suggest that expectation and heightened awareness can influence how people interpret unexplained events, but that doesn't necessarily explain every experience.

Poll Question:
Have you ever experienced something that you couldn't explain?

πŸ”˜ Yes, and I still can't explain it.
πŸ”˜ Maybe, but I'm not sure what happened.
πŸ”˜ No, but I believe others have.
πŸ”˜ No, and I think there's always an explanation.

MEMORIAL DAY TRUE STORY
ANTIETAM BATTLEFIELD
SHARPSBURG, MARYLAND

On September 17, 1862, more than 20,000 soldiers were killed, wounded, or missing in one of the bloodiest battles in American history.

But the stories didn’t end there.

For years, visitors, park staff, and investigators have reported experiences that go beyond the history books.

β€’ Hearing distant drumbeats and gunfire when no reenactments were taking place
β€’ Seeing shadowy figures in old military uniforms standing silently in the fields
β€’ Sudden cold spots and overwhelming feelings of sadness or heaviness
β€’ Unexplained voices and footsteps near Bloody Lane and Burnside Bridge

One of the most talked-about reports came from visitors who claimed to see soldiers marching through the fog at dawn, only for them to disappear moments later.

Some places never forget what happened there.

This Memorial Day, we remember not only the history, but the lives connected to it.

Do you think places can hold energy from the past?
