Did you know that not all birds have hollow bones? 🦆🦴
While most avian species have hollow (pneumatized) bones to keep them lightweight for efficient flight, the Common Loon is a fascinating exception. They have solid, dense bones!
Why does the Common Loon have solid bones?
This unique evolutionary adaptation adds body mass and reduces their natural buoyancy. This allows them to dive incredibly deep—up to 200 feet!—to hunt for aquatic prey like fish.
At Pigeon Control Phoenix, our deep understanding of complex avian biology and behavior isn't just for trivia—it's the foundation of what we do. Understanding how different birds operate, from the deep-diving Loon to the urban-roosting pigeon, makes us Arizona's true bird experts.
