We were on our way home from a road trip. Tired, ready to be done driving, and dreaming of a quick stop by The 1227 Tap Room before going home.

He spotted the pinball machine before we even sat down. One pull of the plunger and it was over.

We pulled up a chair so he could reach. Then he started feeding the machine dollar after dollar like a tiny regular who knew what he was doing.

On his last go around, after feeding the machine five dollars, it happened.

He got a multiplayer game. Four players. All controlled by one very serious, very focused 4-year-old who was NOT about to let any of those turns go to waste.

That look of pure concentration and his consistent "hiya" is something I will never forget.
