“You can’t work in renewables AND oil and gas.”
But, I can…try me! 😊
Months ago, I talked with someone from a solar
energy company, and they thought I was perfect for a job.
But, their boss didn’t.
“We don’t want to take a chance on someone who
hasn’t done a renewable project before.”
Sometimes, people think a renewable project is a
unique creature…completely different from an oil & gas project.
But, it’s not.
The biggest difference is in the vocabulary.
Sometimes, renewable companies look for
Owner's Engineering, but in oil & gas we’re called an EPC.
The name is different, but…
EPCs have years of experience.
They’ve done the same SOPs.
They can move fast.
They can ensure compliance.
Sure, there are some details unique to every job,
but they aren’t showstoppers…chemistry and
physics still work.
These artificial restrictions hold companies back.
So, it restricts them to a smaller set of solutions.
AND they miss out on exactly what they need.
AND for a much better price.
But here's what I know—skills are transferable.
The knowledge, experience, & skills I learned
working upstream in oil & gas are directly
applicable to an RNG plant taking natural gas
off a landfill or manure pile.
The work I do for a compressor station:
Permitting,
Environmental compliance,
Understanding technical specs
…is similar to what’s needed for a solar facility.
I deliver projects on-time & on-budget.
Renewable or oil and gas, it doesn't matter.
So, next time you Google for engineers for your
renewable project, make sure you include EPC’s too.
You may be pleasantly surprised with a solution that:
Saves costs.
Ensures safety.
Complies with all regulations.
AND is less expensive, too!
…Or, you can DM me and talk about it.
What if the solution you're looking for is already
within reach, but it's just labeled differently?
