A great opportunity to learn a skill to create a new career pathway! The Institute for Advanced Manufacturing at Clinton Community College along with the North Country Chamber of Commerce is holding a 3-Week Welding Academy. There will be 12 openings for the class starting October 19th and running through November 6th. This is an excellent opportunity for job placement and career advancement!

$20 dollar an hour stipend for participants!

That’s a wrap on the 2026 American Public Transportation Association (APTA) TRANSform & EXPO in Chicago! 🚆 🚌

NAmTrans had a great week connecting with industry partners, strengthening relationships, and exploring the innovations shaping the future of mobility.

On Wednesday, we were glad to spend time with our partners at Imeco Cables Inc, Seifert Graphics Inc., Prelco, and Knorr-Bremse (New York Air Brake), while also stopping by the Wabtec Corporation and Siemens booths.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth, shared a conversation, and learned more about how NAmTrans supports transportation manufacturers.

We’re returning home with new ideas, stronger connections, and plenty of momentum for the months ahead. See you in Anaheim in 2029!

A productive Tuesday in the Windy City at APTA TRANSform & Expo!

NAmTrans Director Brandon Menard and the North Country Chamber of Commerce's Vice President of Economic Development, Abby Praetorius, spent the day with manufacturers, suppliers, and transportation leaders from across North America.

It was great meeting with our partners at Frank Ralphs, BAE Systems, Fuji Semec, Calmo Inc., Khrome Produit Transport, and Plastitel, while also welcoming visitors to the NAmTrans booth.

We also enjoyed attending the Québec-U.S. Transit Rooftop Reception hosted by Gouvernement du Québec, and connecting with businesses while exploring new opportunities for cross-border collaboration.

As we head into our final day, we're excited to continue representing our members and showcasing the capabilities that make our region a leader in transportation manufacturing.

This week, CV-TEC celebrated the grand opening of its new Career and Technical Education (CTE) Center in Plattsburgh. The state-of-the-art, 155,000-square-foot facility will provide students with hands-on training in high-demand fields, including welding, electrical trades, automotive technology, collision repair, heavy equipment, and diesel technology.

For the transportation manufacturing industry, investments like this are critical to developing the next generation of skilled talent. NAmTrans is excited to work with CV-TEC and Champlain Valley Educational Services (CVES BOCES) to help strengthen the regional workforce pipeline and connect students with career opportunities in manufacturing.

🎉 Join us in celebrating the newest graduates of the North Country Welding Academy!

Seven students successfully completed the academy's intensive 120-hour training program and earned NC3 certification, while all participants left with industry-recognized credentials. Their hard work, dedication, and commitment to learning have prepared them for exciting opportunities in transportation manufacturing and the skilled trades.

Congratulations to the graduates! We wish them continued success as they take the next step in their careers.

Last week, North Country Chamber of Commerce President & CEO Garry Douglas and NAmTrans Director Brandon Menard participated in the New York State Senate Transportation Committee Legislative Roundtable in Albany.

As New York develops its next five-year transportation plan, conversations like these are critical. The roundtable provided an opportunity to share the North Country's transportation priorities, including Amtrak service, rail infrastructure, and airport needs, while also hearing directly from communities across the state.

A special thank you to Senate Transportation Committee Chair Jeremy Cooney for inviting us to participate in these discussions. Senator Cooney has been a strong advocate for transportation and a valued supporter of NAmTrans' mission. We appreciate his continued leadership on these important issues.

Join NAmTrans in welcoming Fabrice Rebouys to the North Country as the new Site Managing Director for ALSTOM in Plattsburgh!

This week, North Country Chamber of Commerce President & CEO Garry Douglas and NAmTrans Director Brandon Menard had the opportunity to meet with Fabrice, who recently relocated from France to join our region's transportation manufacturing community. Fabrice has been with the company for over two decades and brings a wealth of industry knowledge and leadership experience to his new role.

Their discussion centered on workforce development, leadership training, recruitment, childcare, community engagement, and his vision for the future.
