That's a wrap on the "Road to Success" School Supplies Drive! 🎒📚 🚌

Inspired by a collaboration between Assemblyman Michael Cashman, Micro Bird Inc., and the North Country Chamber of Commerce, the day focused on one thing: helping local students start the school year on the right foot.

Thanks to the generosity of our community, the bus was filled with school supplies ranging from backpacks to colored pencils, all of which will be distributed by the Joint Council for Economic Opportunity - JCEO.

NAmTrans was honored to support this worthwhile initiative alongside so many dedicated organizations and community members. Thank you to everyone who contributed and helped make a difference. We wish all students a successful and exciting school year! 🏫📓

The North Country Chamber of Commerce is now accepting interest forms for its upcoming no-cost Welding Academy at the Institute for Advanced Manufacturing at Clinton Community College.

📅 September 9–29
⏰ Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.
💲 Cost: FREE

This 120-hour program combines classroom instruction with hands-on shop training. Participants will learn:

• Welding safety and symbolization
• Measurements for fabrication
• Blueprint and shop drawing reading
• MIG welding on carbon and stainless steel
• Flux Core Arc Welding on carbon steel
• Welding inspection and equipment troubleshooting

Personal protective equipment will be provided at no additional cost. Participants must provide their own safe footwear; steel-toed safety shoes or boots are recommended.

Another successful day at the Farnborough International Airshow! 🛫

Today, we met with Heart Aerospace, a NAmTrans company that utilizes space in Plattsburgh to conduct flight testing of its Heart X1, which is expected to become the largest fully electric aircraft ever to fly. We had a great conversation with their team at the NAmTrans booth and look forward to continuing the discussion when we're back in the North Country. We appreciate the work they're doing in the aerospace industry and are proud to have them as part of our transportation manufacturing and aerospace cluster.

This evening, NAmTrans Director Brandon Menard and North Country Chamber of Commerce Vice President of Economic Development Abby Praetorius attended a dinner hosted by our friends at Aéro Montréal. It was an incredible opportunity to connect with our friends and neighbors to the north and build valuable relationships across the aerospace sector. Mélanie Lussier and her team at Aéro Montréal are valued partners, and we were honored to attend and celebrate their success.

It's been an exciting week at the Farnborough International Airshow as NAmTrans connected with industry leaders from Norsk Titanium and BETA TECHNOLOGIES and celebrated major milestones for our cluster companies!

We had productive conversations about collaboration opportunities, industry trends, and how our region's transportation manufacturing and aerospace ecosystem can support continued growth. We also met with aerospace and manufacturing leaders from around the world to showcase the strength of our cluster.

This week has been one for the history books for BETA Technologies. On Monday, Loganair signed a term sheet for five ALIA Conventional Takeoff and Landing (CTOL) electric aircraft, with options for an additional five. BETA also unveiled the MV250, an autonomous hybrid-electric vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) aircraft designed to provide military operators with greater range, higher speed, increased payload capacity, and lower operating costs.

In addition, BETA announced a partnership with GE Aerospace, NASA, and Boeing to support the development of the world's first high-altitude hybrid-electric-enabled aircraft capable of reaching more than 30,000 feet. The aircraft's first public demonstration flight at Farnborough even included a shoutout to Plattsburgh, NY, highlighting the important role our region plays in the future of aerospace innovation.

🛫 Day 1 at the 2026 Farnborough International Airshow!

As one of the world's leading aerospace events, the Farnborough International Airshow brings together industry leaders from around the globe to forge partnerships, explore opportunities, and showcase innovation.

Representing NAmTrans is Director Brandon Menard, North Country Chamber of Commerce President & CEO Garry Douglas, and Vice President of Economic Development Abby Praetorius.

This morning, Brandon attended the USA Partnership Pavilion Opening Ceremony and had the opportunity to meet Brigadier General Charlie Duke, Apollo 16 Lunar Module Pilot, CAPCOM for Apollo 11, and the youngest person to walk on the Moon.

Over the coming days, we'll be meeting with industry leaders from around the world, strengthening partnerships, and showcasing our growing transportation manufacturing and aerospace cluster on the global stage.

North Country Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Garry Douglas and NAmTrans Director Brandon Menard recently met with Pierre-Yves Fouillen, Business Development Manager for North America at Flying Whales.

FLYING WHALES is a French company established in 2012 to develop an innovative air transport solution based on a rigid airship, the LCA60T. The airship is designed to carry heavy and oversized cargo, with a capacity of up to 60 tons, without requiring ground infrastructure. Its ability to load and unload while hovering makes it uniquely suited to supporting the economic development of remote regions while reducing the environmental impact of air freight.

The meeting provided an excellent opportunity to catch up with the Flying Whales team and strengthen our connection.
