Friday Thoughts from the Investment Nerd š¤
Some weeks seem determined to remind you that plans are only plans.
Wednesday was one of those long days.
My college daughterās iPhone broke, and the repair was substantial enough to get my attention pretty quickly. One minute you are working through your normal schedule; the next minute, Dad mode takes over and an unexpected expense moves to the front of the line.
Then yesterday brought a different kind of adjustment.
I spent part of the day reconsidering how I want to move forward with some business decisions and what the next chapter should look like.
Nothing dramatic. Just one of those moments when you realize that moving forward sometimes means changing direction a little.
And today brought one more reminder that plans are only plans. Homecoming changed completely because of the weather, so what I thought Friday would look like is now something entirely different.
Somewhere in the middle of all of that, I woke up at 2:00 AM with my brain already working on ideas, questions, and the next thing that needed attention.
Apparently, ācreative urgencyā is still part of my sleep schedule.
This week reminded me that progress rarely happens in a perfectly straight line.
Something breaks.
A plan changes.
The weather interferes.
A new question comes up.
You adjust.
That applies to parenting, business, financial planning, and just about everything else.
The goal is not to avoid every unexpected expense or every change in direction.
The goal is to build enough flexibility to respond when life inevitably hands you one.
Iām still working on that too.
One decision. One adjustment. One step at a time.
Have a great Friday.
