Florida changed its contractor licensing rules. Here's what it means if you're about to hire someone.

The state now lets some experienced out-of-state contractors get a Florida license through an endorsement process instead of the standard exam. Plenty of them are good at the work. But the change means a Florida license no longer tells you everything about the person standing in your driveway.

A license is the floor. It says someone met the state's minimum to do the job. It doesn't tell you if they live here, build here, or stick around when you've got a question six months later.
When you hire a TCBA member, you're hiring a local builder. Someone who works in your county, answers to this community, and plans to be here next year too.

Fill a tool bag for a Careers in Construction Week participant,

Careers in Construction Week starts July 20. We're sending every participant home with a bag of new tools. The tools come from members.

Here's the list of tools still needed, 100 of each:
Torpedo level, pliers, multi-bit screwdriver, retractable utility knife, adjustable wrench, tape measure (90 needed).

New tools only. No specific brands.

You can contribute one tool, a bulk of one type, or a full bag for one participant (around $100). If you want to sponsor a full week for a participant, that's $1,000 through the TCBA Charitable Foundation and covers tools, OSHA 10, breakfast, and lunch.

Drop off at the TCBA office during business hours or bring it to any breakfast. We'll pick up larger quantities.

Deadline is July 15.

Member companies who contribute by July 1 get logo placement on the partner recognition poster at both event locations.

The U.S. homeownership rate hit 65.7% at the end of 2025. Younger buyers are moving in too. Ownership among adults under 35 climbed to 37.9%. As the country marks National Homeownership Month this June, our members across Martin, St. Lucie, Indian River, and Okeechobee counties are doing their part. Helping families find their way home.
