An informative - albeit Hot - day at the Farm Progress Show . I attended the presentation by Ag Secretary Rollins (she is a fireball of energy); handed cards (American Society of Agricultural Consultants and my own to a member of her staff - a DOGE holdover - hopefully something will come of that); caught up with an ag media friend briefly; but the capstone was a several minute instruction lesson from a Mr. B Healy who owned this magnificent machine.
I was familiar with similar machines from my youth at "Wheat Threshing Days" exhibitions. Mr. Healy took the time - recognizing my sincere interest - to take me from coal/wood fuel source all the way through the exhaust after combustion/application of energy. The technology (for that time) was simply amazing. He relayed his experiences with the machine - how difficult it was to monitor properly according to the energy needed to perform the work. I coined the phrase "constant management" to which Mr. Healy agreed. I am appreciative of Mr. Healy's time . .. .and fascinated by the ancient-school technology (it's more advanced than you would think).
