Free Geek partnered with Oregon DEQ, Mattress Recycling Council, and Evergreen Disposal & Recycling for the Take Care Cornelius event to help collect and responsibly recycle technology from the community. ♻️💻

Community members came together to take part in volunteer activities including trash cleanup, flower planting, and neighborhood beautification while connecting with one another and making a positive impact.

The event also provided a variety of free services for the Cornelius community including document shredding, electronics recycling, and bulky waste disposal.

Thank you to everyone who showed up to support sustainability, community care, and environmental stewardship. Free Geek is moving at the end of the Summer and we need your support for this next chapter!

We have a HUGE update to our moving campaign! 🚚

Thanks to an incredibly generous donor and the continued support of our amazing community, Free Geek has officially raised $73,279 toward our $150,000 goal from 61 donors!

This campaign is helping power the next chapter of Free Geek as we move into a new space that will allow us to expand our impact through technology reuse, digital skills education, community programs, and access to computers for those who need them most. Every donation helps us build a stronger, more accessible future for our community.

Free Geek continued our partnership with Hacienda Community Development Corp to provide technology access, digital skills, and personalized support to participants! 💻

Our Digital Navigators offered 1:1 assistance while developing curriculum tailored to participants’ needs. This cohort covered foundational digital skills along with practical topics like computer basics, posture while using your device, and more — helping participants build confidence, comfort, and skills in the digital world. We’re grateful to continue this partnership and support community members on their digital learning journey!

Thanks to 53 generous donors, we’ve raised $21,911, bringing us to 15% of our goal with 80 days left in the campaign! Huge shout out to Metro, NW Natural, and Northstar Recycling for helping power this exciting next chapter for Free Geek.

We’re moving into a new space with an expanded vision for community impact — but we still need your support to help us reach our goal and build a stronger, more connected, and digitally inclusive future.

We conducted our Keyboard Class in English, helping participants build the digital skills they need to confidently use their newly received laptops from Free Geek. From learning keyboard basics to growing confidence with technology, we’re proud to support community members on their digital inclusion journey. This partnership allows us to expand technology access, education, and opportunity!
