Apparently, I make salsa now. 😂
I created this recipe years ago by Frankenstein-ing together several different salsa recipes I’d tried, and it became one of my favorites.
Then life happened.
I was raising three kids, running a household, working, and eventually opened the shop. Somewhere between running a business, shopping, ordering, merchandising, making things, cleaning things, and generally being tired ALL THE DAMN TIME, cooking kind of disappeared from my life.
I realized recently that I haven’t made this salsa in probably 8 or 9 years.
So today I made it.
And because apparently I have learned nothing about portion control, I made a HUGE batch. 😂
But you know what? It’s still really, really good.
This is the approximate recipe for a smaller batch:
🌶️ Anne’s Very Unofficial Salsa
• 4–5 large tomatoes, peeled and finely chopped
• 1 bunch green onions, finely chopped
• 1 jar banana peppers, finely chopped
• 1 jar jalapeños, finely chopped
• 2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
• 2 teaspoons salt
• 2 tablespoons red w**e vinegar
• 1 tablespoon olive oil
• 1 teaspoon oregano
• 1 teaspoon cilantro — fresh or dried
• About ¼ jar of the juice from the jalapeños and banana peppers
Mix everything together and let it sit for a while so all the flavors can get acquainted.
Then grab some tortilla chips and start “testing” it.
For quality control purposes, obviously.
And honestly, this is one of the things I’m enjoying most about this next chapter.
I have time to cook again.
Time to make things just because I want to.
Time to pull out recipes I haven’t made in nearly a decade.
After raising three kids and running a business for years, I’m realizing just how much of my life was spent taking care of everyone and everything else.
Turns out, I really missed this part of .
Also turns out I make a damn good salsa. 🌶️
I’ll take the win.
