TAP Announces Auditions for Ravenscroft

Tred Avon Players (TAP) invites seasoned performers and those new to the stage to audition for Ravenscroft, a psycho-thriller, murder mystery by acclaimed playwright Don Nigro, directed by Rob Sanchez. Performances will take place October 22 through November 1, 2026 at the Oxford Community Center.

SUMMARY
Set in a remote English manor in 1905, Ravenscroft begins when Inspector Ruffing investigates the mysterious death of Patrick Roarke. As he interviews the five women living in Ravenscroft Manor, conflicting stories, hidden motives and unsettling secrets emerge. What begins as a murder investigation becomes a psychological puzzle in which appearances are deceptive and the truth remains elusive. Filled with suspense, intrigue and unexpected twists, Ravenscroft keeps audiences guessing until the final moments.
CASTING
Whether you are an experienced performer or trying theater for the first time, TAP encourages you to audition.
Five female roles are available. All characters speak with British accents except Marcy, who has a European accent.
CHARACTER DESCRIPTIONS
● MARCY: Age 20s–30s. The mysterious governess whose past and motives remain unclear.
● MRS. RAVENSCROFT: Age 40s–60s. The dramatic and unpredictable mistress of the manor.
● GILLIAN RAVENSCROFT: Late teens–20s. The eccentric daughter, emotionally shaken by Patrick's death.
● MRS. FRENCH: Age 40s–60s. The stern housekeeper who fiercely protects the household and its secrets.
● DOLLY: Teens–20s. A timid maid who may know more than she is willing to reveal.
WHAT TO PREPARE
Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script. No preparation is required. Audition forms will be provided and completed upon arrival.

Talbot County Public Schools will provide summer meal pick-up for children ages 3-18 once a week, from June 25 through August 13, 2026. Each meal packet will contain a week's worth of breakfast and lunch. Pick-up days will be on Thursdays at Easton Elementary from 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm. Adults may pick up meals for children under their care ONLY.

If you wish to pick up meals, please register by Wednesday, June 17, so that we can ensure that enough meals are available. Meals will be reserved for families who register.

There will be a checklist for those who have registered, and meals will be reserved for those families. There will be a separate sign-in sheet for those who did not register. You will need to provide your child's name, age, and school for those who are school-aged. You will also be required to sign a document confirming that you are picking up only for children in your care. Please understand that if you do not register, we cannot guarantee that we will have meals available.

EVENT HIGHLIGHTS
Clean Up and Dress Up the Town
Saturday, June 6 | 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM
St. Michaels Library Parking Lot
The celebration begins with a community beautification effort encouraging residents and businesses to decorate St. Michaels in classic red, white, and blue. Volunteers will gather to spruce up the town and help create a festive and welcoming atmosphere throughout the community. Cleanup efforts will focus on Talbot Street from Mulberry Street to Mill Street, concentrating on the area between the curb and storefronts. Primary tasks will include removing weeds from sidewalks and brickwork, clearing debris, and refreshing public-facing spaces throughout downtown.

Parks & Poles – Historical Walking Tour

Begins at St. Mary's Square
Explore St. Michaels through a self-guided walking tour featuring 13 stops representing the original 13 colonies. The route winds through Muskrat Park, Hollis Park, Frederick Douglass Park, Bradley Park, Back Creek Park, the St. Michaels Nature Trail, and St. Mary’s Square, with interpretive stations highlighting local history, Maryland heritage, and the significance of Flag Day.
Along the route, visitors can enjoy several special community stops, including the St. Michaels Branch - Talbot County Free Library featuring Talbot County Celebrates the Declaration of Independence with an augmented reality experience starring George Washington and Thomas Jefferson; the Women’s Club of St. Michaels lemonade and iced tea stand supporting scholarships and clubhouse maintenance; and the Classic Motor Museum of St. Michaels Americana-themed Cars & Coffee community open house at 906 Talbot Street featuring live music, a food truck, and classic cars.
The tour is designed for individuals, families, and groups and will remain available year-round, with expanded programming on June 13.
Organized in collaboration with the St. Michaels Parks & Recreation Advisory Board, the St. Michaels Museum, the MidShore Constitution Alliance, and St. Michaels High School, Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR).

Flag Day Picnic & Boat Parade — MAIN EVENT

Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum
The centerpiece of the celebration is a FREE, family-friendly day of festivities at the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum featuring live music, classic cars, field games, plein air painters, and the 1st Annual Daytime St. Michaels Miles River Boat Parade.
Musical entertainment will be provided by the United States Army Reserve 78th Army Band (Fort Dix, NJ). Their 9x9 Ensemble will perform throughout the day at the museum gazebo.
Activities Include:

• St. Michaels Art League / Plein Air Painters (10:00 AM – 5:00 PM)

Community Decorating Contest & Voting
Running Throughout the Celebration
The St. Michaels Business Association invites residents and visitors to explore town, enjoy participating businesses decorated for the semiquincentennial, and vote for their favorites via QR codes displayed throughout town.
Each vote enters participants into a drawing for a local business gift basket, with the winner announced on July 5. No purchase is necessary, and participants do not need to be present to win.

May Conversation on Race explores environmental justice, Descendant documentary

Talbot Family Network will host a community screening and discussion of excerpts from the documentary film Descendant as part of its ongoing Conversations on Race series. The event will take place Monday, May 18, 2026, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Eastern Shore Conservation Center, 114 S. Washington St., Easton. A light dinner and refreshments will be provided.

Presented in partnership with ShoreRivers, the program will explore environmental justice by examining how environmental conditions, historical inequities, and access to decision-making power continue to shape health, opportunity, and belonging in communities. The session was originally offered in February and rescheduled to May.

Descendant tells the story of descendants of survivors of the Clotilda, the last known ship to carry enslaved Africans to the United States. The documentary follows members of the Africatown community in Alabama as they uncover their ancestors’ story, preserve cultural traditions, and confront environmental and economic challenges tied to industrial development in their community.

The film highlights themes of resilience, environmental stewardship, and the ongoing impact of systemic inequities.

“Film is a powerful way to engage people in conversations that might otherwise feel difficult to approach,” said Nancy Andrew, executive director of Talbot Family Network. “By watching and discussing Descendant together, we hope to create space for meaningful dialogue about how history, environment, and community well-being are connected, both nationally and here on the Mid-Shore.”

Following the screening, participants will engage in a facilitated discussion designed to encourage reflection and community dialogue.

ShoreRivers will provide local context by helping participants consider connections between the environmental justice issues highlighted in the documentary and challenges faced by communities on Maryland’s Eastern Shore.

“Environmental justice is closely tied to who has a voice in decisions that affect land, water, and public health,” said ShoreRivers Senior Community Engagement Coordinator Maegan White. “This conversation offers an opportunity to connect a powerful national story to local experiences and to better understand the environmental challenges our Eastern Shore communities face.”

The Conversations on Race series is held monthly from September through May, typically on the last Monday of each month. Each session is designed to stand alone while contributing to an ongoing community dialogue about race, equity, and inclusion. Partners for the 2025-26 series include Shore Lit, the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum, and additional community organizations.
