Next up in our solar powered school series: Willow Oak Montessori!

Students are back in school and some schools are powering their learning with clean energy! By adding 210 solar panels to their building they will harness enough clean energy to offset over 190,000 lbs of CO₂! This is equivalent to:

• Powering 11 student's homes for a year
• Planting 1,400 trees
• 225,840 miles driven to school by parents

We love seeing schools turn their rooftops into another opportunity to teach, lead, and invest in clean energy!

Duke Street Cottages is a collection of Zero Energy Ready Homes right near downtown Granite Falls, NC. Certified under the DOE's Efficient New Homes Program by pairing energy efficiency with solar.

Plus, these homes are designed to be affordable and high performing. Quality, healthy living spaces that homeowners love and can afford.

We were honored to be one of the building partners and want to give a big shoutout to for their work to bring this project to life!

☀️ It's back to school season, so we figured it's the perfect time to highlight our solar powered schools!

First up, is Lyons Farm Elementary in Durham, NC. By adding 210 solar panels to their building they will harness enough clean energy to offset over 200,000 lbs of CO₂! This is equivalent to:

• Powering 14 student's homes for a year
• Planting 1,500 trees
• 236,053 miles driven to school by parents

You can still lock in up to $9,000 from Duke Energy's PowerPair program.

PowerPair is for solar + battery storage together. That means lower electric bills and backup power when the grid goes down. Here's the catch: PowerPair is first-come, first-served, and spots are filling up.

✅ If you're in Duke Energy Carolinas (DEC) territory, including the Triad, Charlotte, Chapel Hill, Durham, or just west of Raleigh, there's still room, but not for long.
☑️ DEP (Duke Energy Progress) territory is already at capacity.

Good news from the solar front! Rooftop solar is alive and well in North Carolina, even after the loss of federal tax credits. Leasing options and battery incentives are helping homeowners go solar with little to no money down.

Our own Graham Alexander got to share his take on why pairing solar with batteries is such a win for homeowners and the grid alike. "The average battery that we're installing is an additional 50 bucks a month," he told Canary Media. "You, as a homeowner, get the money. The utility benefits because they get more load stability with being able to deploy those batteries."
