In honor of Fire Prevention Month (October), Farmers Mutual Insurance of Hull, IA, provided a $1,500 Grant to the Marcus, Cleghorn, Meriden, Remsen, and Oyens Fire Departments. These grants were made possible by nominations made by Smith Insurance Services. As a local insurance company, Farmers Mutual of Hull recognizes the importance of the volunteer fire departments in our area, and want to support them! Smith Insurance was proud to nominate the above departments. Happy Retirement to Margaret Rohwer- 48 years of dedication!

Margaret started working at Smith Insurance on May 24, 1977, just two days after graduating high school. She has always been an essential part of our team and has done just about everything: receptionist, policy processor, bookkeeper, payroll manager, office and computer system administrator, crop insurance coordinator, and agent.

Some of her favorite memories include everyone humoring her each December by putting on Santa hats for a photo and working alongside so many amazing women over the years including Rhonda Snyder, Jane Bork, Sue Willis, Gina Foresman, Julie Frederick, Barb Brady, Linda Smith, Patti Cave, and Haley Erdman. She learned so much from their grace, patience, and intellect.

While Margaret is excited to spend more time with family and friends, and traveling with her husband, Yogi, she will deeply miss the smart, friendly, and funny coworkers she had the pleasure of working with every day. She will also miss helping farmers with their crop insurance- a job she always felt truly honored to do, as they put so much trust in her.

Please join our office in congratulating Margaret on her incredible 48-year journey. We wish you the best in your well earned retirement!
