Join next Tuesday (6/16) at 7PM for the third CULTURE TALK in our new series dedicated to exploring the natural world. Learn about Why Wisconsin's Lakes Are Extra Special!

In this lecture, Limnologist Carol Warden will talk us through the basics of how lakes change from season to season and from year to year. Her research contributes to a long-term ecological research project that's been going strong for the last 45 years. Carol has been studying lakes since 2007. In 2010 she moved to the Northwoods for a full-time research position with UW Trout Lake Station and partnered with WI DNR. She received her Master's Degree in Science in 2010 through the Nelson Institute for Environmental Studies at UW Madison. There will be a Q&A immediately following.

All lectures are free and open to the public and will be held at The Hilgermann Center (25 S. Brown St. in downtown Rhinelander). See you there!

(The views expressed during these lectures are those of the presenter and do not necessarily reflect the views of The Hilgermann Center. All organizers, speakers and participants are expected to remain civil and respectful when engaging with these topics.)

Culture Talks is an ongoing series of lectures by community members on a wide range of topics such as culture, history, art, philosophy, religion and more. For this lecture, limnologist Carol Warden will talk us through the basics of how lakes change from season to season and from year to year. The beauty of our lakes is something that demands stewardship and protection. Her research contributes to a long-term ecological research project that's been going strong for the last 45 years. We've learned a lot about our lakes over that time. In her free time she loves to play outside, especially on water.

Looking for something to do tonight? Join us this evening (5/26) at 7PM for In Progress, an open mic art share event open to all!

Presented by ArtStart, WXPR and hosted by Nate Sheppard, In Progress is a unique event where participants are encouraged to share something they're working on in any stage of the process (hence the name "In Progress").

Join us at The Hilgermann Center for Community in downtown Rhinelander at 7PM on the last Tuesday of every month and show us what you're up to! Whether a song, a poem, a painting, anything is welcome and you will not find a more supportive group. We can't wait to hear and see what you have been creating!

All ages are welcome! Participants can sign up at www.thehilgermann.com/inprogress and audience members are welcome. See you soon!
