I grew up with VKA being part of our family. Now my kids are growing up with it too.
When I was younger, I don't think I fully understood what it meant that my grandfather started this company, or how much of his life — and later my dad's — went into building it.
I understand it differently now.
I'm raising my own family in the same community we serve every day. Our customers are our neighbors. They're parents we see at school, people we run into around town, and local business owners we've known for years.
There's something pretty special about being the third generation to carry VKA forward. But there's also a responsibility that comes with putting your family's name behind a business for more than 50 years.
I want my kids to grow up knowing that how you treat people matters. That your word matters. And that earning someone's trust is something you never take for granted.
Maybe one day they'll understand why this local security company has always been such a big part of our family, too.
