A special highlight was the induction of Tony Nichols, past SACC Board President, into the Chamber's prestigious Hall of Fame. This distinguished honor recognizes exceptional career achievements, selfless leadership, and a lasting commitment to advancing our regional business community.

SACC President/CEO Bill Chambers received a surprise tribute from Tony Nichols and the members of the 2017 Chamber CEO Selection Committee, recognizing his outstanding leadership and recent designation as the Maryland Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives (MACCE) Chamber Executive of the Year. Chambers was nominated by Past SACC Board Chair, Karri Blake Todd. Senator Mary Beth Carozza also presented a Maryland Senate citation on behalf of herself and Senator Johnny Mautz.

Congratulations to the Salisbury Wicomico Arts Council (SWAC) on the on the official grand opening and ribbon cutting yesterday of its new permanent home at 737 & 739 East Main Street in Salisbury!

The Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce was proud to co-host this event and join more than 100 Chamber members, elected officials and dignitaries, artists, and community supporters in celebrating this exciting milestone for our region's arts community. Guests enjoyed performances by SWAC scholarship and grant recipients, hands-on arts activities, delicious food from Market Street Inn Restaurant & Pub Inn, door prizes, and the official ribbon cutting.

Founded in 1967 as Maryland's first and oldest arts council, SWAC has spent decades enriching our community through arts programming, advocacy, education, and funding opportunities. Under the leadership of Executive Director Therese Hamilton, this new facility will expand opportunities for performances, classes, workshops, and community events, while also offering a beautiful 100-seat theater and event spaces available for special occasions.

We congratulate SWAC, its Board of Directors, members, volunteers, and supporters on this remarkable achievement and look forward to seeing the arts continue to thrive in Wicomico County for generations to come.
