We would like to extend a huge thank you to the crews from MAMA - Mountain Area Medical Airlift and Regional One Air Medical for taking the time to visit our station and provide an excellent Landing Zone class for our personnel.

Training like this is invaluable and helps ensure we are prepared to safely and efficiently assist our helicopter EMS partners during critical incidents. We appreciate the knowledge, professionalism, and experience both programs shared with our department.

Thank you again for your continued partnership and commitment to serving our communities! ๐Ÿš๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿš‘

Statewide burning ban in effect until further notice. Polk and Henderson Counties also have burning bans in place for anything within 100โ€™ of a structure.

Due to increased wildfire risk, the N.C. Forest Service has issued a ban on all open burning and has canceled all burning permits statewide effective 6 p.m. Saturday, March 28 until further notice.

Under North Carolina law, the ban prohibits all open burning in the affected counties, regardless of whether a permit was previously issued. The issuance of any new permits has also been suspended until the ban is lifted. Anyone violating the burn ban faces a $100 fine plus $183 court costs. Any person responsible for setting a fire may be liable for any expenses related to extinguishing the fire.

The burn ban does not apply to fires started within 100 feet of an occupied dwelling. The local fire marshal has authority to issue a burn ban within those 100 feet.

๐Ÿ”ฅ Planned Prescribed Burn Stanton Mountain Area๐Ÿ”ฅ

Greenville Water will be conducting a prescribed burn around the Stanton Mountain area on Wednesday morning (2/25/2026).

Please be aware:

โ€ข You may see smoke in and around the Mtn Page and Saluda area. Smoke movement will vary depending on wind and terrain.

โ€ข Drivers should use caution if traveling through areas where smoke may be present.

โ€ข Crews will be on site monitoring conditions and will make adjustments as needed to prioritize safety.

โ€ข These prescribed burns help reduce hazardous conditions and support long-term forest health.

If you see smoke in the area and believe it is related to this planned operation, please do not call 911 unless you have an emergency or believe a wildfire is not part of the planned burn.
