Happy Friday everyone! Here is a sneak peak at our renovation project at Blue Skies of Texas, a senior retirement community that spawned from the Air Force and has since evolved into an open enrollment life plan community providing independent and assisted living accommodations. We have partnered with Leonard Contracting on the creation of a multi-use assembly hall with support spaces that will allow for various events throughout the week. We’re in the home stretch and looking forward to completion!

The new VIA Randolph Transit Center replaces an existing twenty-five year old park & ride facility that once occupied the busy intersection near I-35 and Loop 410. The new modern facility features a forward thinking approach that focuses on the daily visitor experience through sustainable design principles. Shading and natural daylighting specifically, became driving forces throughout the design, highlighted by perforated, wrap-around, clerestory screen that shields tall east and south facing windows during the day, while adding a textured fabric to contrast against smooth metal panel cladding. The west end of the building features a large signage anchor for the site that faces both intersecting highways as a beacon for visitors.

Construction is officially underway on the new Zavala County Courthouse in Crystal City! The project is moving right along, and crews are working hard toward a target completion in early 2027. This modern facility will expand local administrative and judicial capacity, streamline public services, and better overall serve the county for future generations.

Happy Friday and congratulations to Heart of the Hills Heritage Center for their recent grand opening! Built in 1909, the A.C. Schreiner House was recently donated to the city of Kerrville for adaptive reuse as the Heart of the Hills Heritage Center Museum and Grounds. Our team led both the museum programming and design, while also coordinating the building’s designation as a historical building through the Kerr County Historical Association. The project required extensive repairs to the significantly damaged exterior wood and reinforcement of the structure. These structural upgrades were essential to account for the additional loading required by modern museum exhibits and increased public foot traffic. To ensure full accessibility and compliance without compromising the home’s historic silhouette, an integrated new elevator was designed to resemble a chimney yet keep the new museum’s historic charm. This creative solution, paired with meticulous preservation of the original fabric, successfully transformed the private residence into a safe, accessible, and historic public landmark.

The Great Fiesta Bake Off Sugar & Spice was the theme of this year’s King William Parade and so of course, we had to go full Churro, while having a little fun with a certain commentator!

We are still feeling the love from the King William Fair Parade! Our team had an incredible time on the route, and we are so glad our float could bring a few extra smiles to the crowd.

More progress photos of the new R.E. Building at showing off front entry full of daylight and shadow-play along the main corridor. Exterior finishes are being installed the interior will soon follow suit. Getting very exciting!
