Every day, business owners request a Certificate of Insurance (COI) document from us, so they can move forward with new projects.

COIs can help your business finalize a contract, start a project, enter a job site, strengthen your client relationships, and ultimately get paid $.

When it comes to COIs, we prioritize TIMELINESS and ACCURACY.

1. ACCURACY: A COI needs to accurately reflect your existing policies and coverage. If you are pursuing new work, this can involve confirming your policy limits, effective dates, and if items such as "additional insured status" or "waiver of subrogation" are supported, etc.

If your COI isn't accurate or doesn't meet your client's requirements, we will work with you and the carrier to determine what changes are available.

2. TIMELINESS: Being responsive is a part of our core values at FOA. Time and again, our clients affirm that they are being served in a timely matter, so they can move forward with business.

At the end of the day, we work to provide our clients with what they need to grow strong businesses. Responsiveness is nothing without accuracy, and we work to give our clients both.

If timeliness and accuracy are what you need in a risk management partner, we're here for you.

"I know I need to revisit my workers' comp policy, but I'll get to it later."

As long as business is moving along swimmingly, workers' comp is easy to ignore. Ironically, this is the perfect time to pay close attention.

Before your policy is up for renewal, here are 3 things we can tackle together over a phone call:

1. Understanding the why behind your policy, what you're paying for, and what's driving your premium.

2. Ensuring your payroll and classifications are correct. Has payroll changed? Are your employees doing different work? Proper classifications affect your premium, so these details matter!

3. Knowing if you've added or changed services or your operations, so your policy reflects your business as it stands today.

Workers' comp should not be in "set it and forget it" mode. Spending time on it now will help you feel more confident and prepared come renewal time.

How do you read a Certificate of Insurance (ACORD 25) in 2026?

A certificate of insurance (COI) is a dense, one-page form packed with codes, abbreviations, and tiny boxes.

When it comes to interpreting COIs, it's a no-brainer to reach out to your insurance broker for guidance.

In the meantime, we've provided a bit of a "cheat sheet" to help you understand the common coverage types on a COI, plus we've answered the most common questions we get about the form! ↘️

Renting vehicles for your business?

It always seems to start the same way...the counter agent asks: “Do you want the damage waiver?” Most of us just want to get on the road, but there’s a lot more to consider.

Knowing how your business auto insurance, rental waivers, and state laws all fit together can save you from expenses down the road.

In our latest guide, we break down:

1. What’s really covered when you rent work cars or trucks (especially vehicles like a box truck, a large cargo van, or anything with a commercial build)

2. Why rental waivers can make a difference (especially in places like California)

3. The key questions to ask before you sign anything at the counter

4. Practical ways to protect your business before an employee picks up the keys

Check it out to make smarter, safer decisions on your next rental.
